This was Sian’s idea of hell; the big estate full of similar looking houses where her brother and Ginny lived. The more she thought about Tom and his 2.3 children and steady job in finance, the more she wondered how she could have ever imagined that she was related to him. Sian parked across Tom’s drive, getting out and leaning against the car for a moment. She hadn’t even worked out what she would say to Ruth when she saw her and steeled herself for how seeing her mother might make her feel after what she’d found out.
Sian limped down the front path; she’d finally managed to learn to walk again without the crutches, but the cast on her foot still made progress slow and difficult. She rang the doorbell and waited.
