The sound of a car door closing made Sian look up. She saw Kris coming down the street towards her. 'Hey,’ he said, as he got closer. Sian rubbed her neck and stretched. She reached for her crutches but they were slightly too far away. ‘You OK?’ Kris said, walking to her and handing her the crutches. Sian shrugged. ‘Not really.’ ‘What happened?’ Sian shook her head. She looked up at him, squinting against the morning sunshine, which was hitting the tops of her eyes. ‘Can we go somewhere?’ ‘Sure,’ Kris said. 'I thought I could take you out for breakfast or something. Then back to the fracture clinic to get the proper cast on that foot. What do you reckon?' 'Am I going to get a lecture?' Kris frowned. ‘I think we need to talk.’ 'Fine.' She indicated towards the house behind her. 'L
