Emma's heart trembled, but she held on to her rationality, knowing she couldn't make promises lightly.

Hunter understood that she was refusing him again.
His gaze, however, only intensified with a desire to conquer.
Emma caught the emotion in his eyes and quickly averted her gaze.
"There's still one more test result pending," she said, deliberately changing the subject.
Hunter glanced at the technician still working on the analysis. "How much longer?"
"Ten minutes."
The two of them waited quietly for the results.
"Master Smith, the blood sample is human," the technician reported as soon as the results came in.
"It's not a match with anything in our database."
Hunter's expression darkened. "So this person is still lurking in the base."
