"Just me?"
Emma glanced around the room, not seeing the man who had been with her.
The doctor noticed and smirked. "Looking for someone?"
Emma nodded. "The man who was with me."
"You're in this condition and still thinking about someone else?"
The Smith family villa?
Rumor had it the Smith family head was ruthless and had no regard for kinship.
Thinking of this, Emma couldn't help but gasp.
If she fell into his hands, her fate would be uncertain!
She might have been captured after all!
Glancing at the IV needle in her arm, she frowned slightly.
She wondered about the true intentions of the person who saved her.
The doctor, packing up his medical kit, noticed her frown and, out of professional instinct, offered some advice. "Rest well and don't overthink."
As the doctor left, a maid wheeled in a food cart.
Emma propped herself up and sat up slowly, pointing at the cart. "What's this?"
"This is a nutritious meal prepared for you by the master."
The maid began placing the dishes on the table.
"We'll be just outside. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call."
The maid bowed respectfully before leaving quietly.
Emma lifted the lids, revealing top-quality dishes.
"Such good food... for no reason?"
Her unease grew as she stared at the fragrant meal, hesitating to eat.
"Growl—"
Her stomach growled, silently protesting her reluctance.
Time ticked by slowly.
After a while, Emma's head began to pound, and she felt dizzy.
The discomfort she had felt before fainting returned.
Clutching her stomach, she curled up on the bed in pain.
"Click—"
The door suddenly opened again.
Tense, she slowly turned toward the door.
A familiar face appeared, and she immediately relaxed.
"Where did you go?"
She sat up slowly, scanning him from head to toe.
He looked like he had showered, wearing a T-shirt and black sweatpants, with his hair still damp.
He glanced at the untouched meal on the table.
"Why aren't you eating?"
Emma bit her lip, hesitating to speak.
"Don't worry, it's not poisoned."
He handed her the chopsticks.
"How can you be sure?"
Emma gripped the chopsticks, eyeing him warily.
"This is my house. We escaped."
He pulled up a chair and sat next to her, his voice serious.
Hearing it was his house, Emma finally relaxed completely.
She exhaled deeply, looking gratefully at the meal. "Thank you, you saved me again."
This was the second time he had saved her.
"Eat first."
He smiled gently, reminding her.
She sipped some soup to warm her stomach. "By the way, how did we escape?"
"My family happened to come looking for me with a yacht, so they saved both of us."
Emma sensed something different in his words.
His family?
His house?
The Smith family villa.
"You..."
She looked at him in shock. "This is the Smith family villa. You're..."
"There's more than one family with the last name Smith."
He interrupted her gently. "You'll be safe here. Focus on getting well."
Despite her suspicions, she trusted him since he had saved her twice.
"When can I leave?"
"When your fever breaks, you can go."
His blue eyes never left hers.
Emma relaxed further, enjoying the meal more.
Eating quickly, she mumbled, "When I get back, I'll repay you."
