Chapter 30October 16th, Monday Morning
In the nurse's office I sat with Nancy while the nurse cleaned out our scratches and my bite. The paramedics showed up and Mr. Boone came back with a tee-shirt for her to wear. It was large and had a Seahawks logo on it but I could tell that she felt immeasurably better wearing it than the tattered remains of her shirt. The paramedics were nice and thorough. The one that checked me out was a tall woman with dark blond hair pulled back in a ponytail. She looked at my various scrapes and scratches, some still with Band-Aids and raised an eyebrow.
"None of these are from the possum?"
"Nope. Gardening accident." I held out my hand. "That's where it got me."
