Chapter 25 Two o'clock in the afternoon, Carrigan stops at my desk. “They picked up Sophie Brooks, like you asked, and she's in interview room four.” “Thanks.” I grab the files for Declan and Bronson Warner, a writing pad, and tuck a pencil behind my ear. Carrigan disappears inside the observation room. I give him a few seconds to turn on the recorder. I enter the room. Without looking at her, I sit opposite, set down the files, pull the pencil from my ear. I extract my writing pad, set it to one side, and repeat the usual spiel: date, name, location, etc. I look into the frightened face staring back at me. “You have the right at any time to stop this interview and request a private conference with your lawyer.
