“I don’t know. He had to catch a plane. He said he would explain all when he gets back here. I can’t wait.” Barbara exclaimed. “At least he will be here in the states where we can see each other.”
She hurried into the back room to check on some donuts. Her assistant smiled indulgently.
It was about five o’ clock when Matt landed back in Denton. He had Corporal James drive him straight to Barbara’s Bakery. He was so excited he could not wait for closing time.
Barbara ran into his arms as soon as he entered the bakery. After a hug and a very satisfying kiss, Barbara leaned back in his arms and got a good look at his face.
“Tell me you have good news,” she said.
“I have great news,” declared Matt. “I am going to be stationed at the recruiting office here in Denton.”
