Marcus arrived home from the hospital. He could not remember when he had been so anxious for a day to be over. He was going to fix something to eat, but he could not wait another moment. He took his phone and dialed the Rolling Fork hospital.
“Rolling Fork Hospital. How may I help you?”
“Would you connect me with Valerie Mason’s room, please?” Marcus waited impatiently.
“Hello,” said the female voice he had heard only in his dream.
