Chapter 4: Love & Betrayal As she slowly turns towards him, he starts to hyperventilate. What the actual f**k was happening? Was she going to propose to him? What was happening?? As she turns to him, holding a flower, Hiacho thinks that he really must be special. He was really being proposed up by her, his dream girl, the love of his life, his worldly completion. He thinks that nothing else can elevate his heartbeat more than this. He was wrong. Because then July Mayflower does something that shakes his world once, then shakes his world another time. Because as she is there, holding the flower, she shyly says, “Take it. Take it, Hiacho, and be mine”. What. The. f**k. What the actual f**k. Suddenly he feels light headed, and sure enough, the symptoms start to show almost instantly. Why was the Earth spinning? And were trees really flying up into the air? And, wait- why is a car flying? Is this Harry Potter?? But, like always, cars weren't really flying in the air, and so weren't trees, and the Earth wasn't spin- well, to be honest, the Earth was spinning, it always was, but it definetely wasn't spinning that fast that s**t starts flying up in the air. He takes a deep breath to calm himself, only to find himself staring at the love of his life, the girl of his dreams, staring back at him, a smile tugging at her lips. "Take it, and be mine", she says again, in a mere whisper. Hiacho still thinks this is a dream, but then he thinks that there's no point of living your dream if you don't actually live it. So he builds up his courage, and, for the first time ever since he came here, smiles at her. July is really like the sun; pale in winter and hot in the summer. Really, really f*****g hot. But when he smiles at her, July suddenly gets a weird look on her face. It looks like..embarrassment? No, no, not embarrassment, it's more like..she's ashamed? Ashamed of what? She's confessing her love to me, so why on Earth is she ashamed? Is she worried that I won't say yes? Well, in that case I should take it and- July suddenly wrenches her outstreched arm away and her friends start to laugh hyterically. "Oh..my..god", says Hailey, laughing like a maniac. "You really gave us a show there, Namakonado", says another girl of their group, who's name is Ruby. "You really thought that July, July Mayflower, would confess to you?", she says, still laughing. "Are you mad?". I don't believe it. I just couldn't f*****g believe it. I, Hiacho Namakonado, the f*****g nerd of the school, made myself look like a piece of s**t in front of them, the six most popular girls in the entire school. I made a fool of myself. I..I fell for it. I fell for the bait even though I promised myself, I promised myself, that I wouldn't. And yet here I was, being used and played with like a toy, and it hurt. It hurt so much. Not because of the other five, I couldn't care less about them before this day, so after this it's practically zero. I cared about July. She betrayed me in the worst way possible, because even though we had never spoken before this day, and probably will never again, she betrayed the one thing we had in common; being a good person. Because, after this, I was never going to speak to her again. f**k her beauty. f**k her popularity. f**k her. I stared at July as her friends started to calm down, and tears were running down their faces. Not tears of sadness, not tears of happiness, but tears of laughter, tears of joy.He looked at July for a moment more, then, without a second glance, dissapeared into the school, his heart breaking with sadness. Although, as he left, he noticed that throughout the whole ordeal, July never once laughed. She also looked ashamed, the reason of which he knew all too f*****g well. July's face was turning red. Her entire face was red, and she was shocked by what she did. Did she really just do that to Hiacho? He had never done anything to her, so why did she do that? For all she knew, he was a innocent kid who mostly kept to himself, and ate his lunches alone, or had his books as company. That thought alone sent a pang of guilt through her, and she wondered if Hiacho would ever forgive her. No, of course not. How would she ever get forgiveness for what she did today? She was a bad person, and, if there was one thing she knew was that Hiacho did not deserve that. Out of all the assholes in the school, she chose one of the few, probably the only one, who wasn't an asshole and actually was kind and innocent. She was really hating herself the more she played the scene over and over in her head. "Hey girl, why'd you lookin' so sad?", Ruby asks, and suddenly all the attention is on me. "Yeah, now that I think about it, you didn't even laugh or make fun of him", says Hailey. "Although the look on his face when you took the flower back makes up for it!", she says, and all five of them start laughing again. She hated all of them in the moment, but she hated herself more than anything that she even agreed to do this. "Let's do this, Juli", said Hailey to July last night. "It'll be fun, come on!". And she had done it. Not because she wanted to, but because she didn't want to say no and look bad. Because staying in a pack of six is far better than staying in a pack of one. Especially if the pack of six that you're in is the most popular pack of the entire school.
