White Noise | Chapter 3

Chapter 3: A special someone Hiacho was nervous. No bullshit, no lies. He was s**t nervous, and he didn’t know what to do. What do you do when 6 of the hottest girls are standing right in front of you? What do you do when the love of your life is waving at you and beckoning you to come closer? Hiacho knew he needed to play this well. He knew that he had to sell and feign confidence, albeit it be fake. After all, fake confidence is the same as real confidence, as long as the people around you think it’s real. Illusion is the cousin of reality, right? Hands sweating, cheeks burning and heart beating out of his chest, Hiacho made his way towards them. God, is this how people feel when they first go and talk to women? Because if it is, then it’s better to be single for the rest of your life. As I finally reach them, the first girl stops me and shyly says, “Heyyyyyy Hiacho”. Then she giggles, and that’s when I know I’m that either I’ve lost my s**t or I’ve lost my s**t. They’re drunk, I think, and suddenly anger erupts from the pit of my stomach, and threatens to come to the surface. What, so just because they’re popular they have a right to toy with me? That’s what they’re doing, they’re toying with me, and I’m not going to take the bait. Because there’s no way Hailey, Hailey of all people, is sitting here, flirting with me. All the other girls start giggling too, and that’s when I notice it, and suddenly it all makes a little too much sense. I get a little woozy, not really sure how to comprehend the whole situation. Here I was, a lowly regarded nerd, talking to the six most popular girls of the entire school, and they are flirting with me. And the reason why they were giggling wasn’t because they were drunk, or because they were losing they’re minds seeing me losing my s**t; it was because one member of their hot group was missing; more specifically, one member of their group was looking away shyly, wind blowing her hair in every direction. The reason why they were acting so weird was because one member of their group was holding a flower. In other words, the love of Hiacho Namakonado’s life, July Mayflower, was holding a flower and turning towards him.
