“So, you're the only one who survived, Miss Luna?” Max glanced at her as he picked up a piece of fish and put it in his mouth.
Luna's small movement as she waited her turn to take the piece stopped for a moment, her pouting lips, ready to taste it, now slowly exhaling. “I don't know.” The relaxed look in her eyes turned dark.
As far as she could remember, when she woke up, she was in the bushes. More precisely, the bushes had saved her life from hitting the ground directly when the parachute she was using got stuck, and somehow the rope attached to her body came loose.
Her fairly sturdy body then fell without being able to hold on. She thought she was going to die, but the pain from the scratches on her body from the bushes made her realize she had been saved.
“When I woke up, I was alone there.” Her body trembled slightly as she recalled the fear she had experienced earlier. “For the past few hours, I’ve been walking, searching for help in this place.”
He reached into his pants pocket and pulled out his phone. “I tried to call for help, but there’s no signal here.”
Max took the phone as if seeing hope, but quickly sighed when he saw there was indeed no signal. “At least your phone battery is still full. I can try climbing a tree to find a signal tomorrow.”
He handed it back to Luna, then placed a piece of boneless fish on a leaf and gave it to the woman. “Eat first, then we’ll figure out how to get out of here tomorrow.”
“Ah, thank you.” She accepted the fish wrapped in a leaf with a flirty smile on her face.
At least that’s how it looked to Anna, who had been silently observing their interaction. Though Luna was her secretary, Anna didn’t particularly like the woman personally.
As an employee she hired, Luna had the right attitude. She was always precise with many things and organized everything in a way Anna liked. During their time working together, Anna had little to complain about; everything ran smoothly.
But her demeanor was a different matter. Anna didn’t like the way she moved around men and how she interacted with them personally, seeming cheap, like how she was trying to get Max on her side right now.
Anna impulsively grabbed Max’s hand. She made Max turn toward her in surprise.
“What’s the matter? Max looked at her confusedly.
Anna wasn’t aware of what she was doing; she looked hesitant and nervous. She wasn’t the type accustomed to interacting with men outside of work.
The corner of her eye caught Luna glancing at them; she saw the woman smirking at her behavior. That sparked Anna’s ego, and she grew bolder.
She stared at Max intently. “I want to sleep.”
Max looked at her in silence for a moment, then exhaled slowly and stood up from his seat. “Alright, miss. Come here; I’ll make up a comfortable bed for you.”
Max’s sarcastic response elicited a laugh from Luna, while Anna glared at him sharply but restrained herself from protesting, as she too felt embarrassed, realizing her behavior was truly like that of a princess in that remote place.
“Come on, what are you waiting for?” Max turned back to look at her, unconcerned by Anna’s gaze. His brows furrowed when he saw the woman hadn’t moved from her seat. “Do you want me to carry you, huh?”
Her patience had reached its limit, and she stood up, rolling her eyes as she walked past Max. She walked away without a word to Luna, who wasn’t a stranger to her. She hadn’t even bothered to ask how she was or even greet her since they’d arrived.
“You can sleep here.” Max spread out the shirt he was wearing as a mat.
Anna’s gaze shifted to another area that was more spacious but not covered. “What about you?”
Max didn’t expect it, but finally, the woman was thinking about him too, not just herself. Max pointed to the area to the right where Anna would sleep. “I’ll lie down there.” He turned around, sensing Luna’s presence joining them.
Luna placed her bag down, then spread out a piece of cloth that women typically tied around their waists as a cover. “In that case, I’ll take this spot.”
Anna stared at him coldly while Max was busy turning his head to check the fire outside.
“Are you in the middle?”
Luna nodded.
Anna didn't seem to like the idea. Wild thoughts flashed through her mind, imagining Max and Luna close together. She shook her head quickly. “No. Max, you'll sleep next to me.”
“What?” Max, who was rummaging through his bag before moving it, turned his neck in surprise. “Why should I do that?”
Of course, he wouldn’t refuse. After all, the spot seemed more comfortable since it was on the ground, and it would be better if they slept close together since there were no blankets there and their body heat would help keep each other warm—the forest was extremely cold at night.
But Max didn’t forget how Anna treated him every time he got close. He frowned at the woman. “So, you can accuse me of harassment again?”
Anna’s eyes widened, but she was unable to defend herself. “Don’t talk back, just do as I say. Or do you want to sleep next to her?”
Luna’s eyebrows raised; she was quite offended by Anna’s words. “What’s the problem with me? At least I won’t slap him if he accidentally moves and touches me.”
Luna glared at Anna, sat down on the fabric she had spread out, and acted unconcerned.
Just as Luna sat down and unbuttoned the shirt she was wearing, Max finally noticed. No, he had known from the start that the woman had an extraordinary figure. Her full, firm breasts looked taut beneath the tight T-shirt she was wearing.
Max swallowed awkwardly as his eyes fixed on Luna’s cleavage, which was so clearly visible from above, far more tempting because he could see it so precisely. Compared to Anna, Luna’s body fell into the category of a mature woman with a different kind of allure.
Max raised his gaze to meet Luna’s, which seemed to speak volumes, subtly tempting yet friendly.
Max scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “Yeah, it seems better and safer if I sleep next to you.”
Luna smiled seductively at him, her hand tapping the right side for Max. “Then come here, the weather’s a bit cold, so snuggle up to me.”
Her words truly piqued Max’s interest; there was no pleasure to be found there except for something like this. Throughout the day, he had felt tired and frustrated, imagining himself sharing warmth with Luna, hugging her, and burying his face in her chest—the most delightful fantasy that had crossed his mind.
Unfortunately, that fantasy quickly faded when Anna pulled his hand and placed Max beside her, with Anna in the middle between Max and Luna. “Lie down and go to sleep quickly; get those dirty thoughts out of your head.” She threatened Max as if she knew exactly what he was thinking.
Max remained silent, only sighing with his eyes rolling and a long breath. At least Anna wasn’t crying again like before; he didn’t like seeing her cry because it felt strange to him.
Anna turned to Luna, who was still sitting and glaring coldly at her, just like she would at an annoying child. But Anna didn’t care about the glare.
She drew a line with Luna. “And don’t even think about doing anything vulgar while I’m here. I’m disgusted by it.” After saying that, she lay down and ignored Luna, who laughed bitterly at her words.
