“Where have you been?” As soon as Anna saw Max coming from behind the tree, she ran straight to him. “Why did you leave without telling me?” she shouted angrily. Max quickly grabbed her hand; he didn’t want her to hit his chest as hard as he had yesterday. “I thought you left us and saved yourself.” The look of panic and blame still lingered in her eyes.
