CHAPTER THREE: THE PRISONER OF HIS DESIRE

1590 Words
I woke up to the sound of rain pounding against the window. My head was killing me, and my throat felt like sandpaper. For a second, I didn’t know where the hell I was. Then it all hit me Kael’s cold eyes, his voice slicing through my skull: “You’re not going anywhere.” I bolted upright. The bed was way too soft. The room smelled like cedarwood and smoke. Everything screamed rich, big, quiet and fake. My heart was hammering like a drum. “Where the f**k am I?” I muttered, voice shaky. I scanned the room. Tall curtains, silver lamps, a fireplace still glowing. My shoes? Gone. My phone? Gone too. My damn breath came out in quick, sharp bursts. He brought me here. He just took me… like I’m some f*****g prize. Anger flared hot in my chest. “No way. He can’t do this to me,” I growled. “I’m not some f*****g toy he owns.” I ran to the door and twisted the handle. Locked. I yanked it harder. Still nothing. I hit the door with my fist once, twice. “Let me the f**k out! Kael! You can’t just kidnap me, asshole!” The door swung open so fast I nearly fell on my ass. Kael was there, tall as a damn mountain, blocking the hallway light. His black shirt was unbuttoned at the top, hair messy, eyes dark and unreadable. “You’ll hurt yourself,” he said, calm as ever. “Why the f**k are you doing this?” I snapped. “You took me from my house! Didn’t even let me call anyone! Do you even know what the hell you’ve done?” Kael stepped closer, slow, controlled like a storm holding itself back. “I know exactly what I’ve done.” “Then why?” I shouted, voice breaking. “Why me?” He stared at me like I was some damn riddle he already knew. “Because I couldn’t let you go.” I felt my chest heaving. “That’s not love. That’s control, Kael!” “Maybe,” he said softly, like it wasn’t a big deal. “But I don’t care. I told you, Luna, you don’t understand what happens when I want something. I keep it.” “You can’t just… keep me,” I hissed. “Watch me,” he said simply, stepping closer. His warmth hit me first, then his eyes dropped to my lips. For a second, the world froze. I should have moved away. I wanted to. But some damn part of me couldn’t. His pull was like gravity dangerous, addictive. “Kael…” I whispered, voice trembling. He touched my cheek, thumb brushing my skin like he owned me already. “You hate me right now,” he murmured, “but someday, you’ll understand.” My lips parted, and before I could stop myself, he kissed me. Not soft deep, desperate, full of everything we weren’t saying. My knees went weak. My fingers dug into his shirt. His hand slid behind my neck, holding me still, claiming me in a way that made my chest ache and thrum. When he pulled back, we were both gasping. “You can’t just… take me and expect me to feel nothing!” I hissed, heat rising. “I don’t expect you to feel nothing,” he said quietly. “I expect you to feel everything.” I looked away, cheeks burning. “You’re f*****g insane.” “Maybe,” he said, faint smile touching his lips. “But you’re still here.” I turned my back to him, blinking away tears. Why the hell is my heart doing this? I thought. Why does he make me feel like this after everything he’s done? He walked toward the door, paused, looked over his shoulder. “Dinner’s downstairs,” he said. “Don’t even think about running. You won’t get far.” And then he left, shutting the door soft as a whisper. I sank to the floor, hand over my chest, lips still tingling. I sat there for a long time, staring at the door. My hands shook. My lips were still warm from his touch. Part of me wanted to scream. Part of me wanted to understand him. And God, that scared the hell out of me. I stood, walked to the window slowly. Rain poured outside in silver lines. The world felt far away. No city noise. No people. Just thunder and silence. “How long the f**k have I been here? A day? Two?” I whispered. I pressed my palm against the cold glass. Somewhere out there, people were living their normal lives. Maybe my aunt tried calling. Maybe my boss noticed I didn’t show up. Or maybe… no one even knew I was gone. The thought broke me. I sank to the bed, burying my face in my hands. “He didn’t even let me explain to anyone. What the hell gives him that right?” And then that other voice whispered: He looked at you like he’s breaking inside. Why? Who the f**k is he really? I hated it. Hated that I was wondering. Hated that his eyes had looked so… lonely. The door creaked. Kael came in again, carrying a tray. Warm soup, bread, maybe tea. The smell hit me. “You haven’t eaten all day,” he said. “I’m not hungry,” I snapped. “You need strength,” he said, calm as ever. “You’ve been through enough.” I laughed, bitter and loud. “Through enough? You made sure of that, didn’t you?” Kael’s jaw tightened. He didn’t curse. Just calm, like he always was. “You think I wanted it this way?” “Yes,” I spat. “Because you always get what you want, don’t you?” He looked at me a long moment before turning. “You don’t know me, Luna.” “Then tell me!” I barked. “Why the f**k are you doing this? Who the hell are you really?” He didn’t answer. Just walked to the window, staring into the storm. Rain pattering loud as silence between us. Finally, he turned. Voice low, almost broken. “There are things about me that would make you run if you knew. Things I can’t erase, no matter how much I want to.” I frowned, my anger spiking. “Then let me go. I’ll decide if I want to stay or not.” He stepped closer. Eyes locked on mine dark, deep, unreadable. “If I let you go, I’ll lose you,” he said softly. “And I can’t lose you, Luna. Not again.” “Again?” I hissed. “What the f**k do you mean again?” He didn’t answer. Just looked at me like my question hurt him more than I expected. “Kael, what are you hiding from me?” I pressed, fury burning. He stopped inches from me. His hand lifted, brushed hair from my face. “You ask too many questions,” he murmured. “Because you never give answers!” I snapped. Our eyes locked. I could hear his heartbeat strong, uneven. His scent smoky, clean hit me hard. “Stop looking at me like that,” I said, voice sharp. “Like what?” “Like you own me.” He gave a small, rough laugh. “Maybe I do.” I froze. “You don’t.” Kael leaned closer. “Then why the f**k are you trembling?” I wanted to scream. “Because you scare the s**t out of me!” He smiled faintly, sad kind of smile. “Good. Then you’ll remember I’m not the man you think I am.” He turned to leave. I grabbed his wrist. Kael froze, muscles tense. “Don’t walk away again,” I said quietly, but full of fire. “Every time you do, you leave me more confused than before.” He faced me. “You think confusion is the worst thing that can happen to you, Luna?” I glared. “Then tell me what is.” He pressed my hand to his chest. “This. Letting someone this close. It never ends well.” I could feel his heartbeat strong, uneven. Terrifying. “Then why the f**k do you keep me here?” His eyes darkened. “Because I’m already too far gone.” I swallowed hard. “You’re not making sense.” He leaned closer, foreheads almost touching. “One day, you’ll understand.” Heavy air. My heart pounding, drowning out the rain. Before I could think, his lips brushed mine again soft, hesitant. Not claiming, but begging me to feel what he couldn’t say. When he pulled back, voice rough: “You should eat.” And he left me alone. I sat there trembling, staring at the untouched food. “Who the f**k are you, Kael?” I whispered. No answer. Just distant thunder. I looked at the locked door. Anger surged. He thought I’d stay because he said so? Because he wanted me? f**k that. Tomorrow, I’d find a way out, even if it meant breaking glass and running barefoot into the rain. But that night, lying in bed, my heart betrayed me. I couldn’t stop seeing his face, those eyes, that voice, that kiss. Somewhere deep down, under all the fear and anger, I realized something I wasn’t ready to accept. I was starting to fall for him.
