Sienna’s fingers trembled as she traced the glowing words on the page of the Codex. The script shifted, revealing a new passage that seemed to pulse with an energy she could feel in her bones. It was a message, a clue, a beginning.
"The first thread lies hidden in the City of Forgotten Songs," Sienna whispered aloud, her voice echoing softly in the now-still Nexus. She looked up at Darian, who had been watching her silently. His eyes flickered with a mixture of caution and something else—something almost like hope.
"The City of Forgotten Songs?" Sienna asked. "Where is that? And why is it forgotten?"
Darian stepped closer, his gaze unwavering. "The City of Forgotten Songs is where many great tales were born. But it has long been lost to time, its story erased. No one remembers it, but the Codex does. The thread there is powerful, tangled in the very heart of the city. If you can find it and restore it, you’ll begin to understand the depth of the damage that’s been done to Elowen."
Sienna felt a spark of determination. She couldn’t let the world fall apart. Not while there was something she could do. "How do we get there?"
Darian raised his hand, and the air in the Nexus shimmered again. The map beneath their feet shifted, a pinpoint of light appearing over a section marked in glowing silver—an area Sienna had never seen before.
"You’ll follow the path marked on the map," Darian explained. "The Codex will guide you, but beware. The path is never the same for any two Keepers."
Sienna swallowed, suddenly feeling the weight of her task. "What do you mean? Is it dangerous?"
"More than you know," Darian replied. "The City of Forgotten Songs is hidden within the shifting borders of Elowen, and the land itself will fight you. The Codex has many paths, but not all of them are safe. Some may lead you into the heart of the storm."
Sienna felt a chill crawl up her spine. She wasn’t sure what was worse—the unknowns of the world or the weight of the responsibility that had been thrust upon her. But she couldn’t afford to hesitate. Not now.
"I’ll go," she said, more to herself than to Darian.
Darian nodded. "Then prepare yourself. The journey won’t be easy. You’ll need to trust in the Codex, and trust in yourself. There is no other way."
The air around them seemed to hum with an unspoken promise. Sienna felt a sudden pull, as if the Codex was calling to her, guiding her forward. The room around them began to shift once again, the vibrant cityscape of Elowen disappearing, replaced by the mist-covered road ahead.
"The path begins now," Darian said softly. "But remember, Keeper, not all stories are meant to be told."
