THE GRAND DINNER
As evening approached, the palace became even more beautiful. The lights were turned on, making everything shine like stars.
A maid came to my room to help me prepare for dinner. She styled my hair into an elegant updo and applied light makeup. When she showed me the mirror, I barely recognized myself.
I was wearing a gorgeous white gown with silver embroidery. It sparkled softly, making me look like a princess.
"You look breathtaking, Miss Elana," the maid smiled.
Just then, the door opened and Lance walked in. He stopped in his tracks when he saw me. His eyes widened slightly, and a look of pure admiration filled his face.
"My God..." he whispered, walking towards me slowly. "You are absolutely breathtaking, Elana. I don't think I can ever get used to seeing you this beautiful."
I blushed and looked down. "You are just saying that..."
"I mean every word," he said, holding my hand and kissing my knuckles. "Come. Let's go. I want everyone to see my Queen."
He held my hand as we walked to the Grand Dining Hall. When we entered, everyone inside stood up and bowed.
The dining table was long and filled with so many delicious foods—roasted meats, fresh fruits, and fancy desserts.
We sat at the head of the table. Lance served me food personally, making sure I had everything I liked.
"Eat well, my love," he said softly. "You need strength."
While we were eating, I noticed someone staring at us from across the room. It was a beautiful woman wearing a red dress. She looked elegant, but her eyes were filled with jealousy and anger as she looked at me.
"Who is she?" I whispered to Lance.
Lance followed my gaze and his expression turned cold. "That is Lady Vanessa. She is from a powerful family and she thought... she would be the one to become my Queen."
"Oh..." I felt a little nervous.
"Do not mind her," Lance said firmly, holding my hand under the table. "She is nothing to me. You are the only one I see. No one can ever replace you."
