📖 CHAPTER 2
"YOU ARE MINE"
The whole world seemed to stop the moment his eyes locked with mine. His voice echoed loudly, sharp and commanding, making everyone tremble in fear.
"You..." he repeated, his eyes never leaving my face.
I felt my knees weaken. I wanted to look away, to hide, but I couldn't move. It was like an invisible force was holding me in place, forcing me to look at him.
He slowly dismounted from his horse. The sound of his heavy boots hitting the ground echoed like drums in my ears. Step by step, he walked towards me. The air around him felt heavy and suffocating, yet at the same time, it made my heart beat faster in a way I couldn't explain.
When he finally stood right in front of me, he extended his hand.
"Stand up," he ordered. His voice was still cold, but there was a hint of softness in it that only I could hear.
I hesitated for a moment, then slowly stood up. My hands were shaking, and I kept my head down, afraid to meet his intense gaze again.
"Look at me," he said firmly.
I took a deep breath and slowly lifted my head. Our eyes met once more. His golden eyes were burning with so many emotions—anger, surprise, possessiveness, and something else... something warm and deep.
"What is your name?" he asked, his voice low.
"E-Elana... Your Highness," I stuttered.
A small, almost unnoticeable smile touched the corner of his lips. "Elana..." he whispered, as if testing how my name sounded on his tongue. "A beautiful name for a beautiful girl."
I felt my cheeks heat up. I couldn't believe what was happening. The most feared Alpha King was standing in front of me, talking to me gently in front of hundreds of people.
He then turned to face the crowd, his expression turning cold and serious again.
"Listen well, everyone," he announced loudly. "This woman... Elana... is under my protection. From this day forward, no one is allowed to touch her, hurt her, or even look at her with bad intentions. Anyone who disobeys... will face my wrath."
Gasps and whispers filled the air. Everyone was shocked. They looked at me with eyes full of surprise and curiosity.
I was just a nobody, an ordinary omega from the outskirts. Why would the King say such things about me?
Lance turned back to me and leaned closer. His face was just inches away from mine.
"Remember what I said last night," he whispered softly, so only I could hear. "You are mine, Elana. And I always keep what is mine."
Before I could say anything, he turned around and walked back to his horse. He mounted it in one swift motion and looked at me one last time.
"I will see you again," he said, then signaled his warriors to move.
The procession continued, leaving the village and disappearing into the distance. But I stood there, frozen, unable to move or speak.
My mind was spinning. Everything was happening so fast. He claimed me in front of everyone. He said I was his.
"Elana! Elana!"
I was snapped back to reality when I heard someone calling my name. I turned around and saw my neighbor, Mrs. Martha, running towards me with wide eyes.
"Oh my goodness, child! What just happened? Why did the Alpha King speak to you like that? Are you... are you related to him?" she asked excitedly.
"I... I don't know, Mrs. Martha. I really don't know," I answered honestly, still in a daze.
I couldn't stay there any longer. Everyone was staring at me, whispering and pointing. I quickly grabbed my basket and hurried back home.
When I arrived, Mother was waiting by the door. She looked worried.
"Elana! Where have you been? I heard what happened! The Alpha King... he stopped for you!" she said, holding my arms tightly.
I looked at her, and for the first time, I decided to tell her the truth.
"Mother... I think... I think I met my Mate," I whispered.
Mother's eyes widened in shock. "What? But... who?"
"It's him, Mother. It's Alpha King Lance," I said.
Mother covered her mouth with her hands, looking both happy and scared. "Oh my child... this is a blessing, but it is also very dangerous. The Alpha King is not an ordinary man. His world is full of power, enemies, and secrets. Are you sure you are ready for this?"
I touched my chest, where my heart was beating strongly.
"I don't know, Mother," I said softly. "But when I look at him... I feel like I belong to him. Like we are connected by something stronger than fate."
That night, I couldn't sleep again. I kept thinking about his words, his touch, and the way he looked at me.
Little did I know, that day in the village was just the beginning. Soon, my life would change completely, and I would be pulled into a world of magic, power, and love that I never imagined existed.
