๐ CHAPTER XIV
THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM
Days passed quickly, filled with intense training and preparation. Every morning, I would wake up before the sun rose and head straight to the training grounds with Lance.
He was the best teacher I could ever ask for. Patient, strict, but always loving. He taught me how to channel my energy, how to fight with both my wolf form and my newfound powers.
"You are getting stronger every single day, Elana," Lance said one afternoon, wiping sweat from his forehead. We were both breathing heavily after hours of practice.
I looked at my hands. I could now summon the golden light at will, shaping it into shields or weapons of light. It no longer felt overwhelming; it felt natural. Like breathing.
"I feel ready," I said, looking him in the eye. "But... I am still worried. What if they are stronger than us? What if this power is not enough?"
Lance walked towards me and held my face gently.
"Do not doubt yourself, my love," he whispered. "You carry the blood of the Moon Goddess herself. There is no power in this world that can match yours when you are at your full potential. And besides... you are not alone. I am here. The pack is here. We will stand beside you until our last breath."
His words gave me so much strength. I leaned into his touch, closing my eyes.
"I love you, Lance," I murmured. "So much."
"I love you too, my Queen," he replied softly, pressing his forehead against mine. "More than life itself."
Suddenly, the wind changed direction. The birds stopped chirping. The whole forest seemed to hold its breath.
I opened my eyes sharply.
"They are here," I said, my voice low and steady. "The enemy has arrived."
Lanceโs expression turned serious in an instant. The loving mate was gone, replaced by the fierce Alpha.
"Sound the alarm," he commanded, though his eyes never left mine. "Tell everyone... the battle has begun."
