Loic's POV
"A party?" Astrid turned on her heels as she spun around to take a closer glance at me, like I had just said trash, and she was never going to believe that it had come from my lips.
She cackled before flipping her head to the side, finding it difficult to believe. I had wanted her to hear it from me before she did from anyone else, and her reaction was certainly one that I had expected.
" First, it was you calling out her name while we were having s*x, and now it's a party? Really? For her."
"Astrid..." I mouthed out, stretching my hands to hold her when she took a step back, evading it. "I didn't have much choice in this. It isn't coming from me." I tried to explain.
" Then who is it coming from? Sanctum pack elders? Haven't I seen enough? Haven't I been made to tolerate enough?" Her voice broke as she turned to stare at me with reddened eyes.
" I have tried and tried to understand, endeavored to come to terms with her having your child, and that is fine by me because I will take the child anyway, but what I don't understand is all of this when she is to be just your breeder. What is the use of having her meet the pack people when we have already decided that I am to have the baby as mine?"
I gulped in, her words made sense. "Astrid."
" No, tell me, or is there something that I am not grasping? Something that perhaps isn't clear enough to me, and I will need an interpreter to get to understand it? I am getting lost here."
" I fought against it just as much as you did. I am not lying, and you should know as well. I fought against this party because I didn't see the need for this, but it's the elders, you know how they are."
She scoffed. " You make decisions, bringing the elders as the main reason you are doing the act. Why can't you do something and stand by it? Why do you have to stand behind them when it isn't worth it? I know what you are, Loic." She inched closer to me.
" If I ever get to find out that you are interested in her, if I ever get to know that just for a second you find her amusing, even if it's just for a tad bit."
" I won't. It's just s*x and nothing else. You don't have to worry yourself about her. Like I said, she pales in comparison to you, and you don't have to be frightened or worry about her." I assured her even when I noticed it was going to have the same reaction as before.
I could see it from her lashes, the way they fluttered, that she didn't believe a word about what I just said.
" Just don't hurt me." Her words came out in a plea before she stomped off. Her heels made their way out of my study.
My hands slammed the table as I let her words sink in. I was in a fix, one that I didn't know or could account for how much longer I was going to be in.
" Alpha Loic," a tap at the door had my eyes staring at the voice, which I could tell who it was without even trying.
" Adele," I straightened up when she strolled in. Her orbs held onto mine.
" How do you like your room? Is it to your liking?" I waited for her to give an answer, and when there was none, I could only imagine that she hadn't taken a liking to it and I should have done better in a way or given her something else.
" I would like to ask for something."
" A request? What is it?"
" I... I...don't know how it is going to sound, but I am not sure if I want to meet your pack yet, at least not now. Maybe when I am with your child and something worthwhile to celebrate with. I don't think I can do it. The crowds, the glares, the talks, and all. I don't do well with them."
" Are you frightened?" I edged closer, noting her features. "Even when you ought not to be, since I will be beside you through it all?"
She had her hands interlocked with each other, fiddling with them before she pulled her head up to take a glance at me. " I can't help it. I am not supposed to be out there yet. Not before the Luna."
" You mean Astrid? Does this have to do with her?"
" She is your beloved. Your fiancée. I shouldn't be out there before she is, and I don't think she will be okay with it."
" Astrid isn't someone you should worry about. I have that all planned out. She will be by my side, of course, but you are the one who will meet the pack people, they will accord you the respect that I had instructed they will, and nothing is going to change."
" But ..." I saw the fear lurking in her eyes. "What about your fiancee?"
" Let me worry about her. All you have to do is dress up and come with the guard when you have been given the order to do so, but until then be a good girl and come here."
" What?"
" Kneel." I ordered, wanting to know what it was about her that had my wolf roaring and demanding more whenever she was with me.
Why it felt like I couldn't keep my hands off her, why I kept comparing her to Astrid at every single opportunity I got, even if it had only been a few days since I met her.
"But Alpha."
" It's Loic to you. Adele." My fingers ran on her jawline when my hands peeled off the belt I had on.
"Now kneel and take this in your mouth just like a good girl should, without complaints."
