Curry favour

Ophelie's POV The gazes, the glances, each daring and bold enough to strip me naked just so they could see what it was the Alpha was enjoying, weren't blind to my eyes, and I knew what it was they wanted, they desired, even if it was to a large percent. I shook my head at Alpha Loic, whose finger had scraped the table, and I knew he could tell as well, and he was possessive, wanting to place that mark on his breeder. " Enough." He banged his hands on the table, just enough to get the attention of the elders, before waving at me to go away. " When should we be expecting an heir?" One of the elders demanded before I could step out. " That's Cayla's brother, and he would possibly come around after the meeting." Clio explained. " He tried to get his way with Adele once before but failed, and ever since then, he joined his sister to make her life miserable." I noted that to myself, another figure to make his life just as miserable as the rest. " That is for the alpha to decide." I answered. "For I am only a vessel put in place to give birth to his heirs for him." I continued. I could sense Alpha Loic's gaze, stunned and wondering where was the one who had gone against his words this morning, but I had to do this if I needed him to trust me. In a situation where things were being delicate and not in my favor, he would be able to speak up for me, so it was vital to gain his trust in a way. " Good." Clio commended. "You are doing well, Ophelie." She cheered on. " You can leave. That will be all." I swayed my hips as I walked away, making sure everyone's eyes would be locked on me and, as such, making Loic mad enough to be possessive about me in all situations and, if possible, against Astrid. It would be like a dream come true if he does that. " Little steps. Baby steps, and we will get there." Clio commended me while I made my way out. I was sure I had done a good job today and wouldn't need to worry about anything else. It was little but would amass to be a lot. " You are finally out." Astrid spoke out when I was a step away from my room. "I was thinking you will be in there forever." " I thought so as well, especially after I saw how mesmerized the elders were at the sight of me, but I came out unscathed. Loic had to make sure that their attention was brought back to the issue at hand by slamming his palm on the table." " Loic?" She smirked. " You mean Alpha Loic? Or weren't you told?" " Why should I call him Alpha Loic when I have watched you call him Loic, and soon enough I will do the same when he comes to me? In bed?" She had a hand up attempting to smack my face with it when she halted before turning to look at me. " You should count yourself lucky. Lucky enough to escape today, because there wouldn't be a next time, and hope that there wouldn't be another breeder after you in case you are unable to give birth to the so-called heir you are here for." "You don't have to worry, I will do my duty just right. I don't plan to fail the Alpha in any way." She gnashed her teeth at my word before sauntering past me. " You are to attend to me tonight. I want you in my room by six, not a minute more or less." Alpha Loic gave his directives to me before he walked away. I should be expecting this. It was what I was here for, but the thought. I shook that out, this wasn't my body. It was Adele's body, and should be just fine. The door to my room came open with a creak and a figure I wasn't used to. " You are finally here." Cayla's brother had his back turned to me when I got in before he spun around to gaze at me. " You look different. The view and everything. You seem favored." " I could have wished for nothing else." I answered, to which he squinted. " My sister said something about you finally being able to talk back after all of these years, and I told her you won't be able to do so. She made sure you would be a weakling for as long as you live, so what changed?" " Changed?" I took steps in. " Nothing changed. I am still the same old Adele, the one you all know, the one who has been ill-treated so far, and I have just been blessed to be away from you all." His hands clasped around my chin, forcing me to take a look at him. " Your eyes. You have changed. They were never this way. What happened to you? Who would have thought you still had this side after being drilled over the years to get it out?" " I guess being free made me this way, not having to look over my shoulders for when you are going to come around and force yourself on me left me with no other option than to be strong. To fight and fend for myself." " You ought to have been dead. How did you survive?" So he was in on it too with my stepmother. They had all been involved in Adele's death. " Dear Uncle, maybe the potion you both used wasn't strong enough after all." He took a step back, asserting me once more before he said the very same thing everyone had been saying for days now. " You should step aside and let Marlow or Margot come in. You aren't fit for places such as this. Your place..." " Is with the slaves, you all made it clear to me, but I won't be moving an inch to let them in. They would have been the choice if they were half as beautiful as I am, but what do we all know? You should leave, Uncle. I have the Alpha to tend to tonight, who knows?" I leaned against his ears. " I might carry his heir tonight an be the mother to the next Alpha, you might want to curry a little favor."
