CHAPTER THREEBack to the PresentThe coronation concluded smoothly, and Alpha Nelly convened a meeting with her council. Richard Dendridge of the Dendridge family offered his congratulations with a respectful bow, followed by Daniel Choi of the Choi family. An impatient Scout Marksons from the Marksons family also extended his felicitations before sitting down."Thank you all. Nicholas, please update us on this month's issues," Nelly said, smiling at Nicholas.Nicholas reported a significant decrease in pack members, looming threats from the Redwolf pack, and the grief over recent losses."While I have solutions for the lack of pack members and the Redwolf threat, the loss of mates remains unresolved. What should we do to address this?" Nelly asked the council. Before she could finish, murmurs erupted, and arguments ensued."I'm not done, lords," Nelly interrupted. "Nicholas, that expression on your face speaks volumes.""I'm just surprised at the notion of a traitor in the pack," Nicholas stammered."Alpha, please explain," Lord Choi interjected."As you've noticed, Morbius Chip's youngest child hasn't been with our pack. I sent him to the Redwolf pack, where he uncovered the traitor and convinced their alpha to merge our packs. Now, I'm the alpha," Nelly declared with a smile."How did you manage that, Alpha?" Nicholas asked, visibly shocked."And how can you be sure he won't betray you?" Lord Dendridge inquired."I secured his allegiance through persuasion, and unfortunately, he perished during interrogation. As for betrayal, he's no longer a concern," Nelly explained confidently."What about the traitor?" Lord Marksons pressed."Nicholas, please distribute these documents. I trust you with this," Nelly said, handing Nicholas a file.Confusion and concern filled the room as Nicholas complied."Is this true, Alpha Nelly?" the council members questioned skeptically.Suddenly, Morbius Chip, accompanied by guards and the Redwolf pack's beta, entered, battered but respectful."Congratulations on your coronation, Alpha," Morbius greeted."Thank you, Morbius. Beta Steve, please share what you told me yesterday," Nelly instructed. As Steve recounted their conversation, Nicholas reacted defensively and attempted to flee, but the guards restrained him."How could you, Nicholas?" Lord Choi asked, disappointment evident."Our ancestors built this pack with sweat and blood, and now it's handed over to a child," Nicholas exclaimed angrily."We had our doubts, but Alpha Nelly has proven herself," Lord Choi countered."I investigated and discovered Nicholas's wife was involved in the plot," Morbius revealed, eyeing Nicholas."No, Maria had no part in this. I'm solely responsible," Nicholas defended."Your wife collaborated with unknown forces, including a witch, and your children are not truly yours," Nelly added.Nicholas vehemently denied the accusations, but evidence mounted against him."We don't tolerate betrayal," Lord Dendridge said solemnly."Alpha, your verdict?" Marksons prompted."Nicholas, you were deceived, but betrayal cannot go unpunished. You'll be banished to the human world for your safety," Nelly declared."The council supports this decision," Lord Choi affirmed."His wife and children are declared rogues," Nelly announced."I'll seek justice for our pack," Nelly promised, placing her hand over her heart before smiling determinedly
