For Your Love

A day to remember

I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed talking with my best friend after so long made me happy but not as happy as knowing about how much Adrian inquired about me while I was away. I slept very well for the first time in a long time maybe it was relief that allowed me to sleep so peacefully.

I opened and braced the new dawn with a smile. I have a feeling today is going to be an amazing day, a day full of happiness and joy. I can't wait to start the day, I have so many things to do today. Other than catching up some more with my friend I intend on meeting up with Adrian later in the day so that we can finally have a that talk. To say that I am over joyed is more than an understatement. Today is truly going to be a day to remember.

I looked to my side and saw Cher drooling in her sleep, she must be having a good dream. I get up slowly as not to wake and head to the bathroom, I take a quick shower and get dressed. I wear a pink off shoulder dress that reaches slightly above my knee and a pair of white flat shoes that I have borrowed from Cher's closet. 

I got to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for us, I want to surprise Cher with breakfast in bed and the fact that I can cook. I took cooking classes while I was in London and I can't wait to show off to my friend. I want to make some pancakes for breakfast accompanied with two cups of coffee. I prepare the ingredients and began cooking. As I was flipping the pancakes on the pan I heard a notification from my phone. I went to the couch in the living room where I left my bag picked up my phone unlocked it and read the message.

'Come to city hospital the minute you receive this text. Room 1432 on the fifth floor'

The message was sent by Adrian and I also noticed that I had so many missed calls from him. I dialed his number but I couldn't get through. 'He just sent me a message so how come I can't get through to him. Why did he ask me go to the hospital, did something happen ? Is he sick ? Are the questions that went through my mind as I left the house in a hurry. I need to reach the hospital, I need to find out what happened to Adrian. 

I got in the car and drove the hospital, I was lucky that there was no traffic today so I arrived at the hospital in thirty minutes. I parked the car and went inside the hospital, I inquired about the room that Adrian texted me from one of the nurses who directed me on where to go. I went to the alleviator and pressed the button for the fifth floor. I waited patiently for the alleviator to reach the fifth floor once there I exited and went in the direction the nurse had said and soon found the room.

I was very nervous to enter the room, the fear of anything happening to Adrian engulfed me and I was frozen in place. 

"Excuse me miss, can I help you ? A young woman wearing a lab coat asked me. I assume that she is a doctor who works here.

"No, I don't need any help. I came to visit the patient in this room but I am just a little anxious to go inside." I answer her sincerely.

"Oh ! If that is the case then we can go in together as I am here to do a check up on the patient."

"Sure."

She opened the door and led the way inside the room. 

"You are awake, so how are you feeling now ?" I heard the doctor ask, I looked up passed her and was shocked when I saw Adrian lying in bed with bandages all over his body. He also a plastered leg even his hand had a cast on it. What in the world happened to him.

"I am just going to do a few tests on you and then I will leave you to rest." The doctor said as Adrian simply nodded. He looked at me and for a moment I froze and my heart started beating very fast and my breath hitched. 

"Who is she ?" He asked doctor while pointing at me. Wait, did he just ask me who I was. Is this some kind of joke ?

"I don't know, I actually met her at the door. She claims that she came to visit you," the doctor told while continuing with the test.

"Who are you ?" Adrian asked this time looking directly into my eyes. I felt my heart break into a million pieces at that very moment, I couldn't breathe. I was stuck I mean how do I start answering his question. How do I introduce myself to him, who am I to him ? We were supposed to discuss this today but now what do I do. I looked at the doctor with pleading eyes as the tears that had formed in my eyes threatened to fall from my eyes.

"Miss the patient was in a car accident at 10:00 pm yesterday night near Chastain park. He injured his head very badly, we attended to him and treated all his wounds. Due to the head injury I am sorry to inform you that the patient has suffered memory loss. Whether permanent or temporary we are still unsure," the doctor paused and let me absorb her words." But if I may ask how are you related to him ?"

The tears in eyes were now flowing down my cheeks. I can't believe that it was Adrian who was involved in the accident I heard about on the radio. I thank God he survived the terrible ordeal, but now I am the one stuck in a dilemma of how to answer Adrian and the doctor. Who am I to him, that is quite a tricky question. My eyes sunk in their sockets and my heart threatened to break its rib cage.

"My name is Maja Salvador."

I looked at him hoping that he would remember me but he didn't seem to remember anything. He simply reached out for a paper at the table next to the table with his good hand opened the paper read it before looking at me.

"Who are you to me ? And how did you know I was here ?"

"You called me, I mean you texted me to come here about an hour a go."

"I didn't text anyone, I don't even have my phone."

"I am the one who texted you," said the doctor interrupting our conversation. "You see your number was the only contact on his phone so I called you to inform you of the accident. Your name was saved as my love on his phone so I assumed you were his wife. I tried to call you several times but you didn't so I decided to send you a text before the phone off. That reminds me." She reached to her pocket got his phone and handed it to him.

She left the room but not before asking me to see her at her office immediately I was done talking to Adrian.
