CHAPTER 9: MY WOLF BLOOD

1264 Words
“Werewolves called me the goddesses" I was stunned for a moment. "A goddesses?" I repeated. When I hear that word. Actually it's only a myth of legendary stories that I have read in some books. "I came to you, because you are the child of the moon…” she continued. “Why are you telling me this?” I asked. “It's because your awakening has already begun." My heart raced, not from fear, but from a pull of strange that I couldn’t explain. The thick fog enveloping everything just beyond my reach. Just like the whisper of leaves and the groan of wood under some hidden weight. Then the white wolf in the shadow spoke again. "Someday you will understand the answer from the question of how and why.." A chilly breeze swept by, causing the hairs on my arms to stand on end. I spun around, my flashlight quivering in my hand. “How? I was born as a human, don't make me a fool. Unless, show me your face!” I demanded. “No. If you will see my face, it means you died,” the white wolf replied, calm voices yet echoing from everywhere. “And why?” my throat is tightening. "I challenge someone so that you may understand what your bloodline is. You will meet her soon, fight her or kill her that's how it will work" "Do I need to be hurt by knowing that?" I clarified. "It doesn't matter of what you can do, but what destiny's bring, it depends upon you. Challenges, and failures are the ladder of success. You as a fated queen Luna. You must endure all of it, for the peace in this world." she said. "How can you say that we are blood related?" I asked “You.. are my grandchild in this generation.” “Haha… too funny,” I laughed, but I scoffed nervously, forcing a laugh that died quickly in my throat. “You found me funny, huh? Well, I... am the queen of wolves from one thousand years, before you were born. We've met because this is the perfect time, that I should give you my blessings, my little Luna.” I froze. "This is your fate. If you still bothered. Just looked up and talked to me under the moonlight. I will guide you 'till the end of time" she added. My breath came out in shaky bursts as I tried to make sense of her words. “In time.. you will understand why.. Now my blessings will be given to you... I marked your wolf to become the strongest Luna among everyone." her voice is softer now. After what she said, the silence wrapped around me, and the pain that had been twisting through my body, and pounding in my temples, suddenly began to fade away. But the huge white wolf with golden eyes, shows her fangs and let out a high pitch of howl that resonates on the silent sky of the night. Following that, she disappeared into the soft glow of the moonlight, its thick fur evaporates with every breath it took. As if it mixes into the shadows under the moonlight. I let out a breath, after the feeling of heaviness lifted, now I am finally free to move again. For a heartbeat, the world narrowed around me. Instead of fear, something unexpected filled me. A strange calm. This creature’s spirit of wolf didn’t threaten me, it was invited to heal me. After all, a quiet voice whispered again "Now you already know me... I was born with you, my strength is in you... but our fate, depends on your hands." My breath came steady, from what I've learned. I should’ve run. I should’ve screamed. But something deep within me recognized it, as if an ancient memory was trying to claw its way out of the dark. ---------------------- I awoke with silence, and greeted the morning with the sun. The light spilled gently through the trees. I lifted my trembling hand, and for a brief moment, I noticed the traces of white fur fading from my skin. Then I found myself disoriented, unsure of where I was or why I was sprawled out on the chilly ground. Why do I bring myself to sleep in the forest!! I almost yell to myself. Was it a dream again? No. I know it's not. Then, like a flash, it all came rushing back. The voices, the light, and that magnificent white wolf from last night, emerging from the moonlight. Was she the one they called the "moon goddess"? I bring myself up, dirt and leaves clinging to my palm and hair. Birds stayed silent in the treetops, even the wind seemed hesitant to breathe. As I brushed the dirt off my arm, there was something that caught my eye, a fine black strand of fur fading into my skin like smoke retreating from a flame. I blinked, but as quickly as I saw it, it vanished. I stood, swaying slightly, and began to walk back toward home. Now I can hear everything, the distant chirp of insects, the drip of water from a mossy branch, even the faint heartbeat of a squirrel hiding under the roots of the trees. The morning sun glinted off its damp planks. I paused, gripping the post, feeling a low vibration humming beneath the wood, as if my touch carried something electric. Inside the house, the silence felt unnatural. The ticking clock on the wall seemed louder than ever. I stepped inside, my footsteps soft but echoing faintly, and caught a glimpse of myself, for a second a stand froze in the hallway mirror. My eyes were normally a muted brown, but now gleamed with a faint amber glow, like the reflection of candlelight. It was the same shade as the white wolf eyes last night. I reached out, touching my face, trying to steady my breathing. No… no, it can’t be… But as my fingers brushed my cheek, my reflection changed. In that instant, I saw another face layered beneath mine, the same features, but sharper, wilder, with streaks of silver in her hair and a look of primal calm. Her lips moved, but the voice was mine. You’re not losing yourself. You’re finding what was hidden. my wolf said. As if I am answering on my own question. I felt the same pull as before, deep in my heart, as if something ancient inside me was waking up once more. I stood within my room in silence, staring out the window. The morning light glowed golden against the mist, but my shadow on the floor… no longer looked human. Until.. "Sweetie, what are you doing? Time for school?!" Mom found me standing right in front of the window. "Nothing, Mom. I just heard a noise in the woods" I replied, knowing that she didn't quite believe me. So I move to wash up myself. I want to forget what happened to me in the forest last night. Whether it was real or just my imagination, I’m ready to face whatever fate has for me. I believe I can handle it. As for my destiny, I don’t really care about what comes into my life or what leaves me behind. No matter what happens, in the end, it’s just me. These strange experiences have been hard to understand, but then I remembered what my wolf said, that the Albanzo Family is the key for all of these. So now, I decided to get more closer in this family.
