TALK TO MY PARENTS

"Where were you last night?" Mom asked.

The yelling time had started.

"I, I invited Tagi to be with me at the club. But Mom, we are both fine. Yes, we drink, but it's only light drinks, not hard as liquor is." I said.

"Do you still feel sorry for Tagi after that ridiculous situation? You’re aware that your body reacts similarly, yet you willingly put yourself in danger. Have you considered what could happen to both of you in that place? What if you were to stumble because of some intoxicated people?"

Tagi and I didn't say a word, we just put our heads down.

"This is about your life and Tagi. The girls like you are supposed to be here at home before 8:00 in the evening!" Mom yells again.

"I'm sorry, Mom," I said.

"Do you have any idea what will happen when you die? What if something bad happens to Tagi? How could I tell her mom?" she added.

"Promise me that you will not do this again!"

"I promised mom.." I said.

Not unless Marvin is not cheating on me!

THE NEXT DAY;

After class in the afternoon, Tagi and I proceeded to Alpha's house. Then I told Marvin about what happened last night.

"Last night, Ghale dropped by in front of our home and threw down a daring challenge for a fight. The stakes couldn’t be higher: if I came out on top, she’d admit I was worthy of stepping up as the next Luna. But if she managed to beat me and I still tried to claim that title, she made it clear that my parents could be in serious danger. It was a chilling threat to my family’s safety. I explained.

"You know this girl?" Tagi asks Marvin.

"Yes, she is one of the pack, but she's not staying here in Zamboanga. All I know is that she was sent to Surigao by her parents to take care of their business there. After that, I had no news from her." Marvin says

Is he telling the truth? Or did he have something he needed to tell me?

"I think both of you need a doctor," he said. He makes sure that both of us have no injuries. If found positive, it will be difficult for us to transform, we will be in more pain and our bones might be damaged.

"They need to be scanned." Marvin added.

Jolina, the current Luna, immediately reached into her shoulder bag to get her phone. She was calling someone.

"Love, promise me that you will never do this again; your life will be in danger. From now on, you can't just decide. You have to tell me everything and keep nothing from me." He said.

Keep nothing? I'm not hiding anything from him. Maybe you want to confess something to me! I talked to myself.

"How was the meeting with you and Ghale last night?"

"Our meeting is doing well. Last night, I spoke to her with an emotional story, about what could happen when she proclaims herself as my true mate."

"Why? Am I not your true mate? What we feel for each other is true, isn't it? Isn't that enough?" I asked him.

"That is enough for us to prove ourselves to each other. But we don't know the course of her thoughts. And the other members. She can make it appear that you are my "fake mate". That's what I wanted to avoid.

"So what did both of you agree on?" I wanted to clarify.

Marvin took a deep breath before he answered me.

"We both agreed that she will let me choose a new Luna from the pack."

"And what's in return?" I asked for more details.

Because I know that girl named Ghale, she will only compromise when there is something in return. I'm reading Marvin's eyes, he's hiding a secret.

I was waiting for his reply, but Jolina covered the moment by saying, "Ok, girls, I have something to settle first. Just stay relaxed and stay close together, okay? I want to make sure that this will not happen again."

Then Marvin pick up his phone and dialled a number to call for someone. In front of me he said, "Aunt Solidad, thank you for answering my call, ahh. May I invite Sir Mike and you for dinner tomorrow night, in your house? I have something to ask. It is very important, and I need your approval" Marvin said.

"Alright, much better! You know I feel comfortable and calm if you two are together. Let's talk about that." Mom says.

"Thank you, Aunt Solidad. Thanks for trusting me all the way." Marvin said, then he cut the line.

The following evening, Marvin had a chat with my parents about me moving in with him. I have a feeling this isn’t going to be received well. Marvin is already aware of what went down last night with Tagi. I figured it was time for me to step up and be honest, so I decided to come clean about everything. No more hiding!

"I know you love and care for Abby Jezz immensely. And so do I." Marvin said, and my parents nodded.

"The truth is, we encountered a fight last night from the rouges. We have to defend ourselves and stay together so that we can protect our family."

"What is this "rouge?" Dad asked.

"They are a human-wolf also. But they have no territories. No family and no home. They always fight for food and home, most of them killed our own blood"

"You mean, these are a bad wolf?" Mom answered to clarified.

"Yes. That's why I am asking your approval to transfer your daughter and Tagi in my house. for the main time, until we can set the exact parameters in which of the area is safe for us." Marvin explained.

Dad doesn't look happy.

Mom jumped into the conversation quickly, and said, "Marvin had to focus on her improvement, while securing their place is safe. Our daughter needs to master those five senses of wolf, so that she can learn to protect herself to any danger on her own"

"I always wondered about that. You never explained what happened there." Dad says

"Part from that, I'm here because of my "marking" I already gave my marking to your daughter. So now, I can communicate with her telepathically. I can also feel her emotions and mine. I will know if she is ever in distress or in danger. It is very important to our kind that we stay closes to our mates and family in this way." Marvin said.

"Alright, that is understandable." Dad concedes.

Tagi didn't look at me directly while Marvin continued the discussion. This is the part I am worried about. I don't want her to be sad, because of our situation.

"In a few weeks, we will set a ceremony. In human world it is a marriage vow. After that, she will become the official Luna of the family" Marvin added.

"She isn't ready for so much responsibility. She is still in high school. How can you expect her to become a leader when she just found out about this life months ago?" Dad said.

He stood up from the couch and was pacing back and forth now. My mom gets up and rubs his back reassuringly.

"I'm sure that's not required for her yet" Mom said, trying to soothe him. She looks pointedly at Marvin for backup.

"Mom is going to continue to do her duties as Luna while Abby Jezz learns more about the responsibilities" Marvin said, trying to assure him. He looked at Mom pleadingly.

Then Jolina jumps on the topic right away.

"No need to stress about that! I’m not planning on stepping back from mothering our pack anytime soon. I’ll ensure Abby Jezz has plenty of time for school and whatever else she wants to pursue. Our pack may be small, but I truly enjoy what I do. It’ll be a whole year before Abby Jezz fully takes over my role." Jolina said. Then I saw a relief cross at Mom and Dad. Thank goodness!

Marvin looked at me, and I nodded at him with my simple smile. But turning back to my Dad, I can see that this is not going well.

"She's still our daughter. She will stay with us until you are officially married. At the right time."

My heart sinks when I hear Dad say it.
