I darted my eyes left and right in succession, signaling lucidity to the doctors. I had to remember more. Person after person materialized around me, most with vague facial features that seemed just out of sight. It’s not like I was there with anyone that day; I hardly paid the fair-goers any attention. Their chatter was a low buzz in the background of the carnival music that bore into my ears, distracting me from the sound of my breaths.
