He watched in fascination as his car passed—as though in slow motion—across the front of a minivan. The Civic’s front passenger corner clipped the van, which twisted sharply away and disappeared into the darkness. Matt laughed in disbelief as the Civic spun in the opposite direction, crashed through the guardrail, and flew over the embankment. His head jerked when the front end hit the ground. He bit down hard on his tongue, and his mouth filled with warm, metallic blood. It gurgled in his throat, choking off his cry of pain. The car flipped end over end.
