Chapter 8:The breakthrough

Scarlet Mansion….

Evening gave rise to the night as owls hooted and crickets cried,the cool breeze blew as the lord of the night sky-the moon,took its place in the sky

In the inner regions of the Scarlet family’s estate,in the mansion of the Scarlet lord ,Adrian sat cross-legged in his bedroom as his mind drifted away.

“Let’s make another attempt today.” Adrian spoke as he focused his mind trying to feel the surrounding energies in nature. For the past few months he has been trying to enter the first realm of cultivation but he wasn’t able to cross that threshold.

Time passed slowly as Adrian lost consciousness of time and immersed himself into feeling the energies in nature.Two hours passed and a sense of fatigue hit Adrian,he tried his best to get in touch with the energies in nature but the feeling was extremely faint. To be able to draw natural energy into the body, one stepping into the Body Refinement realm has to first release his senses into the environment by completely emptying and freeing the mind of any thought,after the mind has been emptied,a state of clarity is attained which allows the first wisp of natural energy to enter the empty mind and then to the body,when this energy is felt,one has to hold unto it tightly as the energy can be fleeting and may escape back to the embrace of nature,when the first wisp of energy is held down and contained in the body, one will now begin to draw on more of nature’s energies. But catching and holding unto this feeling was the toughest step to take on the path to entering the door of cultivation. It is this seemingly simple step that has left millions of people outside the door of cultivation,unable to cross the threshold.

An hour later,Adrian was at the brink of giving up as he was totally exhausted mentally,when suddenly,a blue light flickered in his mind,the flickering blue light refreshed his exhausted mind as a cool stream of energy flowed into his exhausted mind,refreshing and energizing him.The cool stream of energy elevated his senses to a whole new level.

“This….” Adrian was surprised at the sudden change of events,but after the surprise came his excitement as he discovered that his senses had been elevated to a brand new level,if he could feel only few energies before,he could feel a lot more now.With this discovery, Adrian focused his entire mind and strength into feeling and absorbing the natural energies and proceeded to try refine and temper his body.

‘To enter the path of cultivation,one must feel the energy in the world,draw it into the body and use it to refine and temper the body,this is the Body Refinement realm.The first realm on the path of cultivation,it consists of nine ranks, after which, one progresses to the next realm.The essence of this realm is as its name implies;Refining the flesh nine times making it way stronger and tougher than metal,it is the foundation of the tower which is cultivation and must be as solid as a rock if not more.’

The voice of his teacher sounded in his mind as he drew on all the energies he could feel.Instantly,a vast amount of energy flooded his room from different angles of the mansion.The Scarlet house had an energy gathering formation laid down in the area,just as its name implies the formation gathers energy from nature and focuses it on the person or people cultivating, thereby increasing the amount of energy available for use to the people or person in question.

With the aid of the formation,the energy Adrian could draw on increased in manifold.If anyone should enter his room at the moment,they will be shocked at the sight before them.The energy in his room has reached a point of condensation as it formed what seemed like fog shadowing his figure.Adrian himself had no idea of this,the energy he was absorbing was way higher in quantity and quality than anyone entering the path of cultivation,it was on par with those of the fourth rank of the Body Refining realm or higher.

"Sigh…" A heavy sigh reverberated in the soul and physical dimension,it was only a sigh but it froze all the energies in the surrounding for a moment including the ones entering Adrian’s body,after the pause,the energies increased explosively as the rushed towards Adrian,luckily for Adrian,although the flow of the energies increased explosively,they still flowed in calmly into his body if not he would have been stuffed to the point of explosion.The heavy sigh which caused this reaction was surprisingly from Adrian’s body, but he wasn’t the one who sighed as he was too focused in making his breakthrough, a blue mark appeared on his forehead for a moment before disappearing.

30 minutes later….

The energy in Adrian’s room gradually dispersed as everything except Adrian returned to its previous state.Adrian’s current state could be described as unique as his body released energy which flowed into different corners of his room.His body was no longer aura less like before, the aura radiating from him was clearly of the first rank of the Body Refining realm.Adrian abruptly opened his eyes as a faint blue light flickered before disappearing completely.

“The first rank of the Body Refining realm.” Adrian was all smiles as he spoke

in a low but satisfied voice,he held back the urge to roar in laughter,after experiencing failures for months,he finally succeeded.A feeling of elation swelled in his heart as he smiled happily.

“Wait a minute…..it seemed like I heard a heavy sigh close to my ear." Remembering the heavy sigh that rang in his ears,Adrian’s brows knitted as he went into deep thought.After pondering for a while he shook his head and chose not to burn brain cells over it.

“Grandpa will be surprised and happy at this.” Adrian spoke to himself as he laid down on his bed and sleep came at once.Extreme silence descended as the night progressed towards the day. Surprisingly the disturbance caused by Adrian went unnoticed by anyone in the house even within the entire Scarlet family ground as a whole,or so we thought……

In the forbidden grounds of the Scarlet house,an old man sat cross-legged as bright lights flickered around him resonating with his breathing.The old man opened his shut eyes which flickered with a silver light.

“The elements in nature seem to be more reactive.” His old and timeworn voice resonated in the empty room,before closing his eyes once more returning to his seemingly dormant state.

Few hours later,the first ray of light appeared on the horizon, radiating an orange beauty in the large expanse of darkness that covered the sky. Dawn is nigh.
