"Today seems faster. Isn't it?" Mia said, her eyes following the caterer as he arranged the open space.
Her gown covered the space around her heels.
"My love, you're restless—that's why," Felix replied, glancing at his wife, who was trailing him with a sly smile.
"Hmph, I wanted to tell you something," she said, slowly wrapping her arm around his neck, her smile wide, playful.
He held her waist, knowing something impossible was coming. Something that never existed was about to be brought alive.
Her voice started calmly. "My friend from high school is in town..."
He raised a brow, looking at his beautiful wife.
"He's the celebrity I told you about!" She pouted.
"Okay?" He wondered what was in her mind.
"I invited him, but he has a show this afternoon," Mia confessed. She knew Felix might not agree.
His smile was fading slightly. Giving her a questioning look.
"Can we… also have a night party? For those who can't make it on the day?" she asked, quickly lowering her gaze.
"You always sound impossible," Felix chuckled, voice calm but teasing. "How can we have a night celebration for an eight-day-old baby? Tell me, wife."
Mia bit her lip, heart pounding. She released her grip.
"But it will be memorable! My friend is a celebrity," she mumbled, hoping he would understand.
Felix's focus shifted as his mother entered from nowhere, carrying his child effortlessly.
She spun.
"Mum?" Mia exclaimed, approaching her mother-in-law.
"Why does the air feel so tense?" Sara's voice rang out from behind.
She looked radiant in her golden, sparkling gown that caught the sunlight and people's attention just right.
"Felix, your friend asked about you. Why aren't you picking up your calls?" Sara said warmly.
She took Ivy's grandchild from her, balancing the baby in her arms.
"Ooh, darling."
She felt an overwhelming joy as the baby's soft body fell into her embrace.
"Mum…" Mia's voice trailed off, apologetic.
"What is it, my daughter?" Ivy asked gently, holding Mia's shoulder.
Felix rolled his eyes as he walked off.
Sara settled onto the arranged chair, her warm gaze still on the baby.
She patted him, smiling widely.
"One of my celebrity friends is coming," she drawled.
Sara looked up, nodding, balancing the baby, and kept listening to the conversation.
"So… that's good," Ivy replied, still confused.
"Can… we… have… a… night… party?" Mia's words stumbled, catching her mother-in-law off guard.
"Huun!" Sara exhaled sharply, a glimmer of amusement and approval in her eyes, as if she had been silently waiting for this moment.
Ivy and Mia turned toward her in surprise. Sara's grin widened, teasing with mischief and excitement that seemed almost contagious.
"Sure! Right, Ivy?" Sara prompted, her voice lilting with playful insistence, as though Mia were her daughter-in-law.
Ivy hesitated, her brow furrowing briefly as she considered the proposal. The corners of her mouth twitched in reluctant agreement, and finally, she nodded, slow and deliberate.
Mia's face lit up. She hugged her mother-in-law tightly. Ivy hugged back, sharing Sara's joy.
"I had that in mind all this while; after all, we need guests that will boost the internet!"
"Will your parents be here?" Ivy asked gently, aware Mia didn't want her own parents involved.
"Mum… your love is enough for me. I don't need anyone to make me sad today," Mia whispered, holding Ivy's hand.
Ivy, a widow, smiled softly, a quiet strength shining through her gentle features.
As the sun deepened low, guests were still trooping in.
The vacant seat was filled.
"Look who's here!" Sara's voice cut through the busy room.
Ivy turned sharply, and her gaze settled on her son.
He stood tall and composed in a brown suit. Behind him, Eliot followed, moving with the quiet elegance of being noticed without effort.
Mia couldn't help but murmur under her breath, a flush rising to her cheeks.
"It's not our anniversary… or is Eliot's wedding today?" She teased, turning to her mirror, though she couldn't deny the undeniable magnetism radiating from the men before her.
Felix peeped through the curtain downstairs, hearing the crowd's cheers.
"Come on, let's go welcome the guests."
Mia followed, her gown swaying gracefully around her ankles with each step.
"Does the night party sound good?" Ivy asked, tilting her head slightly, her gaze flicking to Sara, who looked at the moving couple mischievously.
"Of course," Sara replied with a snap of her fingers, a playful wink lighting up her expression. "Soon it will be Eliot's turn, and you'll see exactly what I mean by a proper party."
Eliot bowed slightly, leaving the room to the two women.
The guests murmured and laughed as the lights glinted off the arranged decor.
The music was weaving through the hall, and an air of excitement settled over everyone.
Night fell, and the party's guests were still trooping in; as the yard darkened, Ivy carried her grandchild returning home.
"Pick a younger partner!" The MC spoke through the microphone.
The crowd burst into laughter as aged couples exchanged partners.
She turned to her side, but her husband had already sneaked off; she chuckled, scanning the crowd.
Her gaze stopped on an unignorable face that entered the hall.
She smiled broadly, approaching.
As she got closer, she perceived his scent.
"Such a slutty omega will be good for Eliot."
