— The Way Out — “Do you understand?” Clay had asked her after his thorough explanation of her way out of this place. “Hhm not really, can you go about it one more time please” With a sigh, the wolf started over again with his description. Back when she had asked him how she was to get out of here, he had to think fast and find a way to make her believe everything was under control. But now, now he was doubting his plan was going to work, especially when Judy was asking him to go over again, but he needed to show confidence otherwise she would see right through his nervousness and panic. After all, he wasn’t even sure it would work the first time, yet it did and Judy appeared. “hellooo, earth to Clay!” Judy shouted to get the wolf’s attention. “you OK there buddy? You seemed lost” she added, worry evident in her voice. “yeah, yeah I am fine” “like I said, you see that opening over there” Clay pointed out, directing their attention to the hole in the ceiling “that’s where I fell from right?” the girl asked going right underneath the area his paw was showing and looking up, but all she could see was the dark coloured roof somewhat perfectly neat. “are you sure there is a hole here” “look at it closely, you won’t find what you expect to see but take your time and observe it” After staring at the place with all her might and still not noticing the slightest difference Judy moved closer to the wolf and raised her head to call him out but she was surprised at what she saw up there “Ah! Is that what you talking about?” she could not believe her eyes, it felt like the ceiling was twirling creating some kind of invisible quicksand ready to swallow you up! “I was starting to give up here you know” the furred animal smiled. “that’s only the entrance to this place though” he added. “what do you mean?” “I mean we are not actually in the well like you thought but in different place that is linked to the well through that portal” Clay answered her question but before he could continue she had cut him “through a what now?” Judy was more than confused, they are not in the well? But she fell in the well but then where are they if not in the well? Her mind was already wandering off somewhere with all these unanswered questions. “you would know if you had let me continue” was the wolf’s only reply. “A portal is simply a permanent teleportation effect that transport who cross it to a pre-determined place. You told me at some point you felt a warm feeling while falling right? You were actually passing through the portal to this place. Do you get it now? “ “ uhm... I guess so” Judy finally said, she did not want to bother the wolf any longer with weird explanations and waste more time. She knew it was tiring him out and he was making an effort with all this. “ in short it allows me to go to different places in a second? Wow! Yay magic!” she cheered. Chuckling, Clay felt relieved, at least something was finally going his way. “we are going to use the catapult technique where I give you a lift in the air for you to be able to go through this portal alright? But you have to jump as well and be ready for the other one” Clay was having more and more difficulty to stay focus now therefore, he needed to hurry so she could go and carry out her task. “alr—wait I have to you will throw me up and I have to jump!” Judy was horrified at such an idea “what if you miss! “ trust me little one, I know what I am doing. Now hurry and stand straight on my paw”. After some heart breaking farewell, between hugs and shakes but no cries they were both sure to see each other again Judy was now standing on his paw like he asked. It was indeed smooth, just like she remembered it the last time she stepped on them. Even though his entire body, from the tip of his ears to the end of his tail was of a dark grey colour his stomach had white fur and the inside of his paws were pink and it was so soft and warm that she actually had to stand firmly or she would fall. “ready?” Judy was so into her mind that she did not pay attention to what her friend was doing but then it came somewhere realisation hit her. She will be passing through the first portal, but there are two, how will she pass the second one? He didn’t say anything about it... Did he now? But it was already too late, the wolf had threw her already and she was high in the air. She was all on her own now. Back on the surface, Lady Mcrell was having a fit! She could not understand why was it that she was so preoccupied by what happened to the ginger hair. She who usually always cared less about the inhabitants of this town. To top it off, she was so disturbed that she could not think straight, otherwise how could she miss the most evident way to look for someone. She immediately panicked and did the one thing she would have never done for anyone — she set foot in the church and asked Father George for advice. Lady Mcrell was sure she was possessed that is the only thing she could think had happened to her to behave like this. After she left Father George and storming out of the religious building like she did upon arriving her rage was quickly replaced by hunger and she decided to look for something to eat as she had missed out on breakfast she could not continue on like this. That is why she is now calmly sited at the table of the closest Breakfast and Dinner restaurant to the church, ready to order. “one black coffee, a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and extra spice with some muffin as dessert” “will that be all?” the waitress asked her noting everything Lady Mcrell just said on a small notebook. “for now it would be all” As the girl left, Lady Mcrell was all alone with her thoughts again. Why was she so worried about Judy, she could not say but she had to admit she quite enjoyed herself last night and someone actually considered her and did not call her crazy, maybe that’s the reason she was so bothered by Judy’s disappearance. Her order had arrived and Lady Mcrell was now digging in on her meal when in the corner of her eye she noticed someone with light grey hair, she recognised him, but she could not quite remember his name. She knew she had seen him somewhere... With Judy! That’s right, he is Judy’s friend, maybe he knows what happened with her. She decided she would approach her once she was done with her food. That was until the gentleman beat her to it. “ can’t get enough of me old lady?” Stopping in front her table, the gentleman smirked, making the blondie holding his arm laugh... If you could call it that. “I have no idea what you are talking about, and where you not taught to respect adults young man?” Lady Mcrell politely asked him. She was not in the mood to tell anyone off plus she needed to ask this guy about Judy, he did offer to bring her home last time. “ only those who— “ “ quit picking on someone you’re no match for and tell me what happened to Judy. You were with her last time right? “ Mcrell had cut him off delicately cleaning her mouth with the tissue. “what is she talking about Henry?” the girl next to him asked letting go of his arm and facing him arms crossed. That’s right, Henry was his name, Lady Mcrell had forgotten. But he was quite the charming man when he was at her place, what happened to him she could not help but wonder. “am I her babysitter to know what that idiotic ginger head does?” he had rudely replied to the old lady “ and you Henry continued, now facing the girl he was with “ never question me again “ “ Yes Henry “ was all she could say while lowering her head in shame. After that scene he did not even bother waiting for Lady Mcrell to talk nor the blonde he came with and just walked outside getting looks from other customers from time to time. Mcrell was out of words, was that the same boy who was at her place two days ago and comforted her with Judy or did she imagine things again. An hour had already passed and the old lady was now done with her meal and on her way to Judy’s. She was going to get to the bottom of this. After walking for a whole ten minutes, she finally realized she did not know where the girl’s house was. This was going to be a hard task after all. She halted a cab and once inside told the driver to drop her off at Judy’s place “who’s place?” was his answer. “Judy, Judy’s place, you must know her, she’s the only one with bright orange hair!” the woman dressed in a long black gown exclaimed when he had no idea who she was talking about nor where she wanted to go. The driver made no signs of understanding so she got out and looked for another taxi. How was she going to get to her place now. “ Do you know the house of a girl with ginger hair?” she would ask any cab that stopped in front of her. She had no idea how long she stood there and she had lost count of how many cabs that replied no. “please do you know where a young redhead lives in this town?” she tried again “you mean the weird one who lives near the Humpers?” the driver asked back. Was there any other redhead in this town? Heck the whole kingdom the old lady thought, she did not know any Humpers, but she did know a redhead “take me there” she excitedly said. Finally, what a day! She thought to herself. ----------##############----------
