‎ ‎ ‎ ‎A drop of rain landed on Aurelia’s skin, and Lucian felt her shiver. ‎ ‎They were already close to getting home. Lucian could see the lights of his estate in the distance, and he silently wished the rain would hold off until they were safely inside. But the rain had other plans. It began to pour heavily, suddenly and relentlessly. ‎ ‎Aurelia’s grip around Lucian tightened as the rain soaked them both. ‎ ‎“It’s okay, Princess. We’re almost home, and I’m right here with you,” Lucian said softly. ‎ ‎“I… I am fine. Yes… I am fine,” Aurelia whispered, trying to convince herself more than him. ‎ ‎Lucian adjusted his hold on her, lifting her from the bridal carry he’d been holding her in. He made her wrap her legs around his waist while he secured his arms firmly around her.
