Zavid
We walked back to the Range Rover outside this Alpha’s house. I felt strange, as if my mind was clouded with a dense fog. The same word echoed in the back of my mind; mate. My wolf stirred underneath my skin and I tried to push him down, we were in another pack’s territory and I knew better. I turned around again, the scent I smelled earlier returning to my nose; Roses. There was also the slight smell of ash, but I attributed that to the air around me. It was her scent, I thought it was just the lingering smell of the house but the minute she must have walked in, the scent intensified. It was distracting, the whole time I was speaking with Adam my mind was being pulled somewhere else.
“Chris, you drive.”, I said throwing my Beta the keys. Although I didn’t doubt my own driving skills, I wanted to think.
“Ight, Boss”, he said catching the keys and jogging to the driver’s side.
I got into the passenger seat and my Third, Eric, got into the back behind the driver’s seat. I watched as we exited the compound and drove down the hidden street towards the main road to take us to the highway and then to our hotel. I stayed quiet, resting my arm on the window and trying to organize my thoughts. If I wasn’t mistaken, she was the Alpha of this pack’s daughter. I heard of her through whispers that she was more than just Wolf but she’s never drew any more attention than that. She looked to be about 5’6 with hair as black as mine. It was put up into a bun, and my head spun wondering how it looked with it all down. She had that slightly tanned skin people down south tended to have and her mid-section showed a bit in what she was wearing. But her eyes, her eyes were the most beautiful I had ever seen. Amethyst. They were unlike anything I had ever seen, from far away I’m sure people must just think they are dark brown but it’s as if I was memorized by them. It was like it hurt me to look aw—
“Zavid!”, Chris exclaimed, cutting off my thoughts.
I turned my head to him, “What happened?”
He looked at me puzzled for a second and then turned his attention back to the road.
“We were asking you if you think the meeting went well.”, he said.
“It went as good as I expected it to. I told him what he needed to know, and even so we will be discussing moving forward the next time we meet tomorrow.”
“He looks young to be an Alpha”, Eric remarked.
“He was turned when he was in his twenties but he’s centuries old, don’t be deceived. Even my power was having trouble standing up against him. The Crescendo Pack is high on the ranking along with us, they should be taken seriously.”, I said. I knew the stories about this Alpha. He was ruthless during his first decades of life as an Alpha, feared by many but respected. He only really started lightening up when he met his mate, sadly she died giving birth to his daughter; the girl I just couldn’t get out of my mind.
“We should check in back home. With the three of us up here, the pack is more vulnerable.”, Chris said.
“I know. But Dorian should be able to handle everything until we get back.” Dorian was my Father’s Second from when he was Alpha. He continues as an aide to me, helping me with anything I need and even occasionally giving me advice. Since the my Second, Third and I were here, I left him in charge of business there.
“Who was that girl in the house? His daughter?”, Eric said.
I snapped to attention and looked back at him.
“Do you know about her?”, I asked him.
“Nothing, honestly. I just know that people questioned if she was half Fae because of her mother but those rumors were put to rest.”
“I saw you looking at her. Catch your attention I see.”, Chris joked.
My wolf stirred underneath, both with want and anger for hearing her being spoken about.
“It was just unexpectant, that’s all.”
We arrived at the hotel and parked the car. They both got out while I stayed in the car for a while longer. I knew what I felt and what happened when I looked right into her eyes.
Mate…
