Time To Go

2009 Words
I released my grip on his neck and watched as his body crumbled to the floor. I lifted my hand to my face turning it to admire the blood that covered it. My wolf was clouding my mind, my tongue grazed my fangs as I tilted my head and licked my lips.  Fresh Kill  My wolf’s thoughts rang in my head. She wanted me to lick my hand, to shift and enjoy the kill, the taste of his flesh in my jaws.  “Aurora!”, I faintly heard “AURORA!”, I heard Andrew yell with a voice that reverberated off the glass windows. I snapped back to reality, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. I called on the pack bonds to keep me calm and then I smelled Rafa’s blood again. I looked down and saw Andrew holding pressure on Jared’s wounds. In front of me, everyone on the right side of the diner was staring at me intently; scared. I didn’t have time to deal with dumbass Humans right now I thought to myself. I turned back to where my table was and saw Rafa holding his shoulder with the boys surrounding him trying to stop the bleeding. Immediately my instincts kicked.    “Call Ellis, tell him to be ready for two silver injuries! Get him into your truck and to my house!”, I said running down the aisle towards my friends. They all looked at me with fright as I ran up to them, almost guarding Rafa from me. I looked at Jaime, the oldest and most logical person of the group. “Judge me later, please. Let me help him now that’s all that matters.”, I said pleading to him. I hoped he trusted me enough to do at least that.  He nodded, still holding my gaze.  “Get him to the car! Let’s go!”, I yelled pointing for them to grab him and carry him to the car. I grabbed everything they left behind and ran out behind them leaping over the now dead man in the middle of the aisle. We ran out the entrance and turned to the left towards the parking lot and to the awaiting car. “He needs a doctor!”,Miicah said sounding even more concerned. “He will get one. My…pack…has their own doctor whose probably better trained than any doctor in Miami.”, I said with determination.  When I said pack they almost froze, not fully comprehending what the word truly meant. We got everyone in the car, and I sat straddling Rafa so I could put as much pressure on his wound as possible. He looked at me, both with fear and anger. I knew he must have been scared about what happened to him, but also angry thinking it was my fault. Also, because I had kept this little secret from him. Oops.  “My house! Hurry!”, I yelled to Jaime as we peeled out the lot. My house and the Pack house weren’t far, maybe 20 minutes on a heavy traffic day but for now we were there in less than 10. I lived on the border of Homestead, the more rural part of South Florida. It made for more space for the pack to run if they needed too, but also to build a two-story modern-day mansion without anyone questioning. My house was fully white on the outside, made out of smooth marble and stone with large windows that you could see out of, but never into, and a gated entrance driveway that went straight up to the front door. The garage to right side was open revealing all black luxury SUV’s and sports cars—not all ours— and the entrance was intricately laced black metal double doors. I told Jaime to park next to Andrew’s truck close to the door. Dad, we’re here.  I told him through the pack connections, trying to sound as calm as I could. Getting the Alpha worked up was never a good idea especially when I knew there were other wolves in the house.  “C’mon, take him inside.”, Said opening the door and awkwardly getting out. David and Jaime held him up and walked him instead behind me. We entered the doors and made our way through the foyer past the double staircases that led upstairs. The boys have been in my house before, we usually had movie night in the theater room downstairs or pool in the living room. Still that didn’t stop them from always gawking at the extravagant household set up. My dad worked for the government as a securities expert working on funded projects for better computer protections and security measures. Not to mention he also owned his own security business as well in which a lot of the pack worked at. Along with the pack being financially involved, needless to say we were financially stable. The house was only two stories anyhow, enough for 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 recreational rooms, gym, kitchen and basement where we held a cage for the out of control wolves.  We passed the kitchen and dining room and went to the large room that was a gym. We didn’t have formal room for medical emergencies such as these like the official pack house did, but we couldn’t bring them there around everyone. They we not technically supposed to know any to this anyhow. Inside I smelled Jared before I saw him, he was on the open mat in the middle the floor we used for mediation and any workout we did on the ground. He was healing internally thankfully as I saw Ellis applying a salve on top of the stitches he must have applied. Ellis had been a doctor since 1912 in the First Balkan War. He lost any accent he had since then and remained a wondering rogue until he met my father in the late 1900’s. After that he followed my dad loyally, becoming the doctor to the pack my dad was in before he became an Alpha himself. He was a white skinned man who looked like he was in his 30’s and just started body building. His muscle definition was extreme and could be seen from underneath his tight-fitting white t-shirt and sweat pants. He kept his head shaved and had tattooed it with various skulls and roses. He looked hardcore, but was one of the nicest members we had, he kept the hardcore vibe while working as a Firefighter though. He used to say he could help more being one than sitting in an E.R. all day.  “Ellis!”, I called to him as he finished up his work on Jared. He looked up to me, his face smiling, then turning to a frown when he saw all the blood on me.  “Hey Princess, what have you gotten yourself into this time?”, he said walking up to Rafa and inspecting his bullet wound. I lifted up his right arm the same side that he was hit and showed him is protruding veins that had a metallic tint to them.  “No jokes now Ellis, they shot him with silver nitrate.”, I said with concern in his eyes.  “I see, I see. Don’t worry it won’t do too much damage to him there’s not enough of it. And this here is a through and through small caliber should heal quickly especially with my salve. Didn’t it any bone or important structure, won’t even leave a scar.”, he responded no charmingly. He has seen much worse, meaning this was nothing to him.  Rafa, loosing blood still, groaned in pain. “Pain reliever would be quite nice right now.”, he said through gritted teeth.    “Adam, grab that chair bring it here, he looks like he’s about to pass out.”, he said with a bit of laugh to him. Adam, my dad walked into view. His presence was intimidating to say the least. I’ll describe it more later because right now Rafa was turning pale and just about going to indeed, Pass. The. f**k. Out.  “Alright boys, sit him down here. I’ll be done with him in a few minutes.” The boys sat him gently down and David held his shoulders back against the chair so he didn’t slump over. They all had a bit of concern in their faces but they looked more concerned with the fact everyone was so relaxed during this. Little did they know it happened on more than one occasion.  He cut Rafa’s shirt off exposing his toned chest and abs. They weren’t extremely defined but looked like a natural six pack. Wasn’t the first time I’ve seen it but it always makes my wolf stir with how good looking he truly was and that for the time being at least he was mine. Ellis gave him a shot of morphine immediately he began to relax as it took effect. He cleaned the wound with saline and inspected it even better.  “You got lucky, clean wound and no major damage on the inside.”, Ellis confirmed. He then did the same to the exit wound on his back. He scrubbed both wounds with Iodine, laced his needle and began stitching. In about 5 minutes he was done with the whole process thanks to more than century of practice. He applied the grey homemade ointment to him and then wrapped him in white gauze.  “Now on to the Silver situation.”, he said as he took out a need the length of my hand and filled it with pure Saline. “Lay him on the floor.” After he was laying down, he said “This is going to be hard to watch but I’m going to flush the silver from his body with this needle of saline and Belladonna Alkaloids directly in his heart. Then i’ll give him a shot to boost his bodies red blood cell count so he cycles it out more quickly, also because he a lot of blood.” Nobody bothered to question him as he finished explaining. Slowly he felt his chest with one hand for the correct spot and when he found it, he inserted the needle directly into his heart, pushing down on the syringe. I could see everyone cringing but it was a common practice to do this with wolves for silver poisoning. Hunters usually used simple silver made bullets but others used bullets with liquid silver nitrate. Upon impact the capsule explodes releasing the toxin into the blood stream but thankfully the bulled didn’t lodge meaning he only got a small dose. He was breathing easier now, and I could hear his heart beat evening out. I exhaled the breath I had been holding the entire time.  “Alright, you’re okay now. I’m sorry this had to happen to you but you should be good now, especially once Aurora works her magic on you.”, he said calmly. They all looked towards me at that point.  “Not s*x…”, I said holding my hands up shaking my head. I looked at my Dad again, trying not to make eye contact. He came over to us at that point as he was done getting information on what happened from Jared and Andrew.  “Hello Boys, good to see you again.”, he said to them. I could feel the pack magic in the air and I knew he was using it in order to try to sooth their emotions. It can even work on humans if the wolf using it was strong enough, and trust me he was strong enough.  “I know you all must be confused and concerned, and we will gladly explain everything we can to you at a later time but I think it’s time for your friend to rest a bit.” “Ora, take them to your room why don’t you. I’m sure that would be more comfortable there.”, he said motioning upstairs to where my room was.    I suggest you handle this one. Speak with me after they have settled for a bit. He is welcome to stay overnight for monitoring if he pleases but feel free to help heal him as well. But make sure they understand the importance and secrecy that this entails.   My father spoke to me through the bond, his dominant voice pushing at my mind, I nodded to him and with that he left with the two boys and Ellis towards his study.
