All Is Forgiven

I sat there in shock for a while. Not now. Not ever, actually. Really? At this time, I am not about to handle it. Yet, I couldn’t help but still feel the tingling on my skin. His eyes were amber, and they stared directly at me, just as entranced as I was. I felt the heat of his stare flow through my body, and I felt my heart begin pounding in my chest. More than that, my wolf was still stirring. I could feel her pacing in the back of my mind, restless. The same word echoing in my mind; Mate. This has to be a mist-   Just then, my thoughts were interrupted by a distinct ping coming from the Xbox. I got up to see what the notification was for, thinking nothing of it until I read what it said. I was being invited into a party chat; the invite being sent by Rafa. “Really? Right now?”, I asked the air. I should have been bouncing for joy, my anxiety should have been going up and down both being relieved but also scared. Yet, all I felt right now was annoyance and a weight off my shoulders. If they were inviting me it meant they wanted to talk at the very least, but I needed to figure out what just happened with that Alpha. “No! These are your friends, fix this issue first!”, I told myself. I sat in the middle of the bed and put on my headphones grabbing the controller and accepting the invite. “Hello?”, I said cautiously. “Heyo!”, all three of them responded at the same time. I looked at who was in the group chat and saw it was Rafa, Jaime and David. I was relieved that they sounded so normal. “What are you guys up too?”, I asked trying to sound as calm and normal as I could. “You going to join us or what?”, David said. “You guys didn’t exactly send me an invite, did you?”, I shot back. I opened up the game they were playing and accepted the invite that they eventually sent. It was so weird, this is what I’ve been wanting all along but now that I have it, it’s so weird. They were laughing and making jokes as if nothing happened. For the next thirty minutes I laughed and joked around with them as I played with them. Slowly all worry drifted away, and I lost myself in the normality of what I was doing. “So, wolf girl, how have you been?”, Jaime asked. The question shocked me, he said as if he was just saying my real name. “Wolf girl?”, I asked stunned. “You are a wolf girl, aren’t you? So, what have you been up to in our absence?” I laughed; they were well aware that they had just vanished. What did I expect anyhow? After what happened. “Nothing much, I guess. Work, stuffing my face as usual, and lounging around. I guess you guys are okay now?” “We were always okay. We all just collectively agreed to give you space and to give our own selves space. But we were all playing one day and realized, ‘Holy s**t, we have an amazingly kind and sweet friend who protected us and is pretty badass’, and we got over it.”, Rafa said, nonchalantly. I literally looked off into space just questioning my life at this point. Did they really just get over it that quickly? Jeez. “You all really had me worried sick for days and this is the conclusion you came to?”, I asked slightly annoyed. “Yes, now be grateful.”, Rafa said. “Asshole…”, I said laughing knowing it was only a joke. “Well, you all need to keep quiet about it at least got it?”, I said sternly. “We know, we know. Now change the subject we don’t need the lecture we know the drill.”, Jaime said. We continued to play for a couple more hours, and the time just flew bye. Eventually my stomach started growling and I had to take a break to go get some dinner. I walked down to the kitchen and saw my dad sitting at the dining room table on his laptop. “Hey Dad!”, I said walking past him into the kitchen. The dining room was in clear few of the kitchen so he looked up and smiled at me. “Finally, out the room I see. I guess your friends came back? I could hear you screaming in there all evening.” “You know, they literally got over it like nothing. Poof.”, I told him. “Boys, they have small minds, don’t they? Never the less, I told you they would forgive you. They gravitated toward you because og who you are as a person. They wouldn’t have ended their friendship with you over something like this. Now a days I believe the younger generation is more open to concepts such as ours.” I look around the fridge and grabbed everything I needed to make a turkey and salami sandwich, then laid it out on the island and began to assemble it. “Mhm, I’m assuming you’ve chosen a side on the matter with the Marrok then?” “Not so. I said the younger generation would be accepting of our kind. The older? Not so much. Humans can’t even treat their own with self-respect, what makes you think they will treat a completely different species with any respect?” “You act like we are completely different. We are still Human, as you always say.” “We know that, but will they? The color of one’s skin is already a problem, especially in this country. Imagine looking like a Human but not really being one? The amount of precautions people will come up with to implement? Blood tests on everyone, temperature readings, touching silver rods to see if they burn, and who knows what else?” “They don’t do that with the Fae.” “They don’t know the Fae can change their appearance. They think they will know a Fae when they see it. They would treat it as if Lycanthropy is a Deadly Virus, and those who have it need to be sought out. Sadly, this is the reality that we face and we don’t have the power the Fae have to protect every Wolf.” My Dad was right. We couldn’t protect everyone, and Wolves were powerful but Fae were Old Gods. The Older ones had more power than they care to admit, hence why most creatures choose to have an alliance with the Fae. I grabbed a bag of BBQ chips and my food and went to the table with him. “So…the Alpha you met with today…”, I asked slowly. He looked up from his laptop, “What about him?” “He seemed pretty young, for an Alpha.” “He is. But the power I sense in him is strong, indicating he has more wolves than he lets on.” “Do you trust him?” “For now. He seems intelligent and wants to work with us in this matter. He voiced some concerns about the dangers his pack could be in, and has the possible location for the headquarters but hasn’t sent wolves to scout yet. I invited him to stay in the territory for a few days so we could discuss the matter further.” “Oh! He’ staying.”, I said. I felt happy about that oddly, like I was looking forward to seeing him again. “You sound happy about that.”, he said closing the laptop to look at me. “I mean, I was never introduced to him. That’s quite rude of you if you ask me.”, I said trying to cover up my interest. He chuckled, “You sure that’s all?” “Yup, pretty sure.”, winking at him and grabbing my now empty plate and bringing into the kitchen. I knew that my dad has suspicions, but he never was the type to force anything out. I told him Goodnight and made my way upstairs back to my room. Sitting there on my bed, I thought back to the him. Zavid, sounds…delicious. I let the thoughts come to me, everything from looking into those amber eyes, to his hands running down my body. It sounded so good, I almost felt it. I wanted to just grab his face and bite on those juicy lips. I just wanted to relish in that scent of his, and let it engulf me. In the middle of the thoughts I could hear the boys on the mic talking about where they wanted to go this weekend. “Hey! I’m back.”, I said in to the mic. “Alright, since you claim to have been the one suffering you get to choose the place we go to this weekend.”, Jaime said. “Uhm, alright? Well I’m pretty tired of going bowling or golfing. How about we have a night out? I heard Bodega is featuring a new DJ on Saturday.” Bodega was a pretty decent sized club in Wynwood. It had both an inside area that you could listen to one DJ, and when you walked out you entered an open area where you could smoke Hookah or get some food at the end. It also featured a dance floor with light shows and another DJ as well. I loved it mostly for their drinks, it would anyone tipsy even someone with a tolerance like me. “You know we haven’t gone out to a club in months, I like the idea,”, Rafa said. “Alright Saturday. I’ll pick you guys up at 1 and we should be good by around 4.”, Jaime said. “What a Viejo! You can’t stay up a little later just for us?”, I exclaimed. “Not all of us are party animals like you. I mean that literally now.”, David said. “HA.HA.HA. You all are so hilarious. Make it 12 to 4 then.” “Deal!”, Jaime said. I couldn’t help but find some relief in being able to just go out and enjoy myself. Yet, I wanted to see this Alpha again, to see if what I was feeling was a simple crush or were feelings something more. I knew he would be back to the house to speak with my Father and I was determined to see him. Weirdly, I could feel the magic I had in me stir, like if it also knew what I was feeling. Until now, I just lived with this small bit of magic I had using it only when I needed to. But now, I feel it running through my veins, pulsing in my body wanting to be used. Another thing I had to think about, great. I never really cared for it, but now I wanted to access it, to use it more. My wolf stirred with irritation thinking about the part of me that it didn’t trust, the Fae part. I would go to Tilly as well this week, and have her work with me. She would know more than me or my pack anyhow. But for now, I played away with my Friends, the Humans who gave my life the normality I begged for, then I’ll deal with the Alpha and the Fae.
