CHAPTER FIVE: LITTLE THINGS

236 Words
Days turned into weeks, and somehow, Ethan and Aisha became part of each other’s daily routine. It wasn’t planned. It just… happened. Ethan would wait a few minutes after class, knowing Aisha would catch up. Aisha, without admitting it, began to look for him the moment she stepped into any lecture hall. If he wasn’t there, something felt slightly off. One afternoon, rain poured heavily just as lectures ended. Students rushed for cover, but Aisha stood at the entrance, clearly unprepared. “You didn’t bring an umbrella?” Ethan asked, stepping beside her. She shook her head. “I didn’t think it would rain.” Ethan sighed, then held his umbrella out. “Come on.” She hesitated. “We won’t both fit.” “We will. Just… don’t stand so far.” Reluctantly, she stepped closer. Too close. For a moment, neither of them spoke as they walked side by side, shoulders brushing slightly. The sound of the rain filled the silence, but something else lingered between them—something neither of them dared to name. Halfway through, Aisha laughed softly. “This is awkward.” Ethan smiled. “A little.” But neither of them moved away. Because somehow, in that small shared space, awkward felt… nice. And as they walked through the rain together, it became clear that it wasn’t just the big moments shaping their bond— It was the little things.
