It took a couple of seconds to realise exactly how scared Ivy was, like to really understand the level of fear she had going on here. It was intense, and insane. Which was how I got to have the startling epiphany that I had gotten way too used to having my life in danger. Someone was chasing us, and was probably going to do something to try and at the very least hurt us if they caught us. I probably shouldn’t feel like meh. Again? Okay.
“They’re still following us,” Ivy panted, ducking us into some greenery. She had pulled us into the little space between a tree, and a shrub. It wasn’t like I wouldn’t have done the same thing… but I wouldn’t have. I would have just waited for them to catch up.
