Mica
Nina and I walked through the hallway and all eyes were on us obviously because of the rumours which turned out to be true.
I expected this reaction but what I didn't see coming was students (some where classmates while others where either seniors of juniors) coming to talk to me about their personal issues knowing that I was going through stuffs but still pushed through. Even teachers started using my story as an example while teaching and of course not everyone will understand, people like Shayla and her girls, though some of her girls talked to me behind her back which Nina found hilarious.
Ryan and I haven't had an eye to eye discussion since my parent's divorce. He'd be a big fool if he thinks I'm not aware that he snitched on me. I must confess I waited to do him dirty for bringing my family problems to the open but Nina talked me out of it so I withdrew plus this is already exam week and I've got a lot to do and cover up.
I'm very certain that we'll settle our scores
Nina
So how is our poem going? I asked Mica while playing with the fried chips on my disposable plates in the school cafeteria.
“It's coming out really well, thanks for pushing me to even start.”
What are friends for I asked giggling and she nodded her head in a left to right direction.
“We are not friends Nina we are sisters"
Of course we are! I miss this so much and that reminds me, My family is travelling to Mexico for summer but I decided to stay back because of summer school and I'm actually referring to the competition so mom asked me to ask if it'd be alright with you if I stay at your place during that no so short period of time.
“Are you kidding me, it'd be lovely plus my Dad is travelling back to wherever he went to though he promised he'd be back for his ex wife's wedding and also to see me since the judge agreed that they could have a shared custody. The moment I graduate from high school I'll throw a party it is needed”
LMAO!!!
You are really something else and crazy us an understatement but I'm just grateful to God that you are handling the situation well. After I said that line I felt heavy, was Mica really handling the situation well if was there something else up her sleeves but I shook the thought off. My main reason for wanting to stay with her during summer is so she won't be depressed over her mom's getting married to Ryan's dad.
Phone rings!!!
who's calling you? Mica reluctantly looked at the screen as Mom popped on it then she showed me the screen and I couldn't help but grin.
“hey mother, how can I be of help to you”
I heard laughter over the phone meaning her mom has company. “ I just wanted to inform you that my fiance will be coming for dinner today and I want you back home early”
Mica rolled her eye balls and talked through her teeth “Can't you figure it out yourself, why do you derive joy in provoking me”
With that she hanged up and breathed heavily while running her fingers in her newly twisted braids. “Damn it”
It's going to be alright I promise you and then we held hands across the table.
Ryan approached us looking rather irritated than angry.
“Can you tell your shameless mom that I'm not interested in having any family dinner”
“Don't you dare insult my mom instead of complaining and creating a scene you might as well tell you dad to be a man and you can go get a life”
With that Mica walked out on him and I followed suite and in less than an hour it was on the gossip papers as I like to call them instead of school news.
“Hidden secrets between Mica and Ryan”
Mixed signals....
At this point I couldn't care less
Rumours were spreading like widefire in school and my home was already in trenches.
My emotions were undefined and fear was the only thing I felt.
All the happenings around me made me wonder..
I'm I invisible, don't they know I have feelings too?
Why don't they include me before making choices?
Or maybe I'm not just valued.
