The ride back to Alexander's private den was a blur. My thoughts scattered, my pulse erratic.
His arm stayed curled protectively around my waist as we exited the car. The click of my heels against the sleek floors of the underground parking echoed in the silence between us.
Alexander’s features were unreadable under the dim lighting. Yet, his presence—the weight of his dominant energy—pressed down on me like a physical force.
