With Charlotte beside me, carrying a few bags from her shopping earlier, there was something oddly domestic about the scene. It was as if she already belonged here. "Leave those," I said, reaching to take the bags from her hands. "It’s my territory. You shouldn’t lift a finger." She gave me a mock glare, tugging one of the bags back. "I’m not helpless, Alexander," she huffed, though her tone betrayed amusement. I allowed her a momentary victory, letting her carry one of the lighter bags. As we stepped inside, the warm glow of the den lights greeted us, illuminating the space that now felt… complete with her presence. She set her bag down with care, glancing around.
