Chapter 28: Stay With Me
(Charlotte's POV)
The air inside Alexander’s car was thick with silence. The faint hum of the Bentley moving over the stone-paved roads, paired with his overpowering scent of pine and winter, made it impossible for me to settle. My question still lingered between us, unanswered.
“What are we to each other?” The words echoed in my chest, threatening to ignite a fire I wasn’t sure I had the strength to control.
Alexander didn’t glance my way as he drove, his electric blue eyes fixed firmly on the road ahead. The only indication that my question had affected him at all was the way his knuckles tightened imperceptibly on the steering wheel.
