Lyra's POV
“I never wanted it,” I said firmly as I turned to address the naughty remark, “It was a terrible mistake.”
She didn’t say a word, she just gave me a playful smile.
“I’m saying the truth, Kira,” I insisted, “Orion deceived me into doing it, he drugged me, and it affected my senses. There's no way I would do something like that with him if I were in my senses."
Kira just blinked her eyes. She didn't say more.
“But I know better now,” I added, “it won’t happen again.”
A beat passed before she spoke. “If you say so.”
Her voice was so calm, so non-judgmental, that it made the shame of what happened rise hotter in my chest.
