Pineapple Native to South and Central America, the genus Ananas consists of nine species of evergreen, variable, terrestrial, perennial plants. Ranging from 60–100cm in height and spreading to a width of 50cm, pineapple plants have underground roots, as well as small roots that grow above ground.
