Chapter 23

Becca's POV

The next morning I woke up as early as possible, Kade was still asleep and I didn't want to disturb him. After all, I was already leaving for the library because I had a lot of books to cover. I watched as Kade snored gently rubbing his hands on my hair. He looked so cute while sleeping.

I gently stood up so I would not wake Kade up because if I do he would not allow me to go or be insists ok coming along and I could not take him along because thus was for business purposes.

I went straight Into the bathroom to have a cold shower and I could say I was very refreshed afterward. I needed all the energy I could get because everything needed strength. Anytime I wanted to give up I would remember my mom with her in such a position I had no choice but to make sure I made things right.

I didn't intend on telling Dax where I was going because I didn't want to waste any more time but since I didn't eat yesterday night and I had to work all day it was going to be advisable for me to take breakfast.

I went into the kitchen and decided to cook breakfast for everyone so the maids would only have to dish the food. I washed the vegetables and started making pasta. I could perceive the beautiful aroma of the food.

As I continued dicing the carrots I felt a presence behind me.

I turned back to see Dax resting at the door staring at me with a smile on his face.

"How long have you been standing there? You could have just said hi or probably good morning you almost startled me." I said concentrating back on the breakfast I was making. I was already leaving because I was supposed to be at the library by 9 a.m. sharp and I was still making breakfast.

"Are you all dressed for work? I thought there was a public holiday today?" He asked, finally walking into the kitchen.

"I know there should be a public holiday today but I am not going to work today but I have some things to do at the library," I answered, dishing my food as I was done making breakfast.

"Since when did you start making breakfast? we have the maids to do that since you are actually going to be busy you did not have to waste your time trying to make breakfast for us before you went to work." He said resting his back with a smile on his face.

It wasn't his fault, I was the one who wanted to make breakfast for them.

" I don't blame you, I was jobless enough to help you guys make breakfast. Anyhow, I am off to the library apparently I have a lot to do concerning this virus so take care of yourself and your son I make sure you guys eat on time, and this time whenever his clothes get dirty get him a new one doesn't change his whole wardrobe." I said with a light Smile and I was about to leave the kitchen when he called me back.

"Like you said, today is public so all organizations are also on holiday so the library is not going to open and you might want to know that the nearest one around is about 3 miles away. I am not even sure you know the directions because the roads are quite tricky."

"So what am I going to do? I really need to visit the library." I said pouting my lips like a child.

"So I don't believe you are this dumb. How can I have a mansion as big as this, and I am an alpha and I won't have a library isn't that stupid?

"You don't need to insult me, I didn't know you would have a library here. Then I don't need to disturb myself. Will you show me the library or you will keep on insulting me?" I said dropping my bag on the counter and dragging him out of the kitchen

"Wait, not that fast. It is my personal library so if I let you use it what would be in it for me?" He said taking an abrupt pause with a look I couldn't comprehend on his face.

"Ugh, what do you want?" I said, pouting my lips.

"You'll be the one to think of what you can do to appease me. I won't be the one telling you what to do. Mind you whatever you are going to do must be good." He said taking a seat on the couch.

"Okay okay I'll do anything you want me to do but you would have to allow me to use the library first and this evening I would do anything you want me to do," I said in desperation. I didn't want to waste any more time. I had a lot to uncover and I was glad he told me that the library won't be open. If not I would have wasted a lot of time and I would still have had to come back to him without achieving anything.

"Fine you have yourself a deal and since it is my library I would enter and do anything I want from time to time so you don't have the library all to yourself." He said standing up and looking back at me to see if I was okay with his condition. It wasn't like I had any other option if I did not go for this I'll probably have to waste a whole day so it wouldn't be able to ask me anything that absurd I guess. but do I know what I'm doing when I say that he can ask me anything he wants? The corner smile on his face I did not trust him that well but I had no choice as this was very important to me so I nodded indicating that was okay with his idea. He smiled and chuckled which got me more confused but I did not have time to be thinking about whatever his smile was for.

He led me upstairs and the library was in the North wing.

I wonder why I've never noticed the North wing as a library because I've been here a couple of times but it has never caught my attention that there was a library present in The Mansion.

While in thought I did not notice that I had paused at the door.

"Hey, what are you thinking about?" He asked the person at the door so I could eat my face right on his chest, hurting my nose.

"What did you have to pause to ask a question? Now you have made me what's my nose, what's wrong with you.?" I snapped I was already getting quite cranky.

"I should be asking you what is wrong with you. you are so used to thinking about so many things now just for me to take you to the library you are already lost in thoughts what exactly have you been thinking about?" He asked with a little serious look on his face. I needed a favor for myself. I shouldn't have been that rude but I was already getting cranky because I hardly slept and I had so much on my mind with no profound solution. I noticed he was already pissed off at my retort and I regretted what I did but I was really really not myself nowadays and only managed to put up with a fake smile whenever I was around Kade. Does anybody else notice how cranky I've become? I needed a favor from you. I shouldn't have been that harsh because it portrayed a lack of courtesy. Did I even think because I remember I am talking to the Alpha of a park that could have me beheaded anytime I misuse any opportunity? Was I planning to die? Although he wasn't going to really hurt me because I was the mother of his child but I wasn't the child so I don't think I was excluded from paying the rightful respect to the leader of the pack.

"I'm sorry I don't know what came over me. I didn't mean to talk to you that way. Please pardon me for my stupidity." I muttered out because I could notice the cold glare on his face.

"No problem, use the library, I'll check up on you soon," he said and left the premises and I could see the look on his face. We should say he was not happy with the way I acted. I regretted my actions and I wanted to apologize. He had already walked away. Knowing I had too many things to do I brushed up the incident from my mind and walked into the library and I couldn't say I wasn't awestruck by the beauty and the massive decorations and equipment facilitated in the library.

God, I have never seen a library this wide and beautiful. I'm sure even the Central library wouldn't be as big and beautiful as this. How was I so absent-minded? not to notice that there was a library present in this house knowing how much I really love reading medical books?

I still kept on looking around as I was really amazed by the structure of the library. But I still snap out of my fantasies as I had too many things to uncover today.

The books were already arranged by genre so it was actually easy for me to find a medical book I was looking for. I wasn't actually looking for a specific one but any medical book I saw about viruses and pandemics and wanted to read every page of it because it's my half of the answers I actually need to solve this problem at hand.
