That was all the encouragement I needed. Almost immediately, a sudden strength seemed to possess my entire being, flooding through me like fire in my veins. The fear that had gripped me moments ago dissolved into something sharper, focused and unyielding.
I took a deep breath to steady myself, feeling my pulse slow from frantic to steady rhythm. There was no time for hesitation now.
Turning toward one of the maids standing frozen in the corner, I barked out orders, my voice clear and firm.
“His hypovolemia isn’t helping the situation,” I stated. “I want you to apply pressure to his wounds that are still bleeding and try to stop the blood.”
The maid flinched at my tone but obeyed immediately, rushing to Paul’s side.
Paul, barely conscious, let out a low groan, his lips trembling
