Room of Possibilities

753 Words
“Welcome to the Room of Possibilities. This room was designed by our Queen, who has the Gift. We come here in times of need, in times for answers. I believe this may be one of those times.” The woman winked at Ivy and Al. She had such a positive and outgoing personality, it was hard not to smile when she was around. Ivy felt as if she knew this woman. Her face was definitely familiar, it was like a scratch she could not itch. “Umm… excuse me?” Al started. Ivy turned to him, saw he also was smiling. The woman stopped and bounced on the tips of her shiny green shoes and twirled, actually twirled, towards Al. “Who are you?” The woman’s bright green eyes popped wide open, and a tiny light pink started to flush the tops of her cheeks. “Oh my! I am deeply sorry. With all the thoughts racing in my head, and you being here now instead of later, I completely forgot you would not know who I am. My name is Yara. I am Keeper of Thoughts. I am the Protector of Happiness. The list goes on.” Yara’s smile was intense, and she bounced on her toes, a tap with every time she sat back on her heels. Ivy could not help herself; she was enamored. Before she knew what she was doing, Ivy wrapped Yara in a hug. Yara wrapped her arms around Ivy. Yara closed her eyes for a moment and let herself be in the moment. “I’ve missed you, Inkiri.” Yara whispered and squeezed tightly. Ivy gasped as images came flooding into her mind. She could see her and Yara sitting on a bed in their pajamas, she could see them pillow fighting, she could see them shopping with Mara, she could see all three of them standing over the giant book and talking, she could see Yara crying and holding Ivy’s pillow. Just as quickly as the images came, they went. Ivy stumbled back a little, Al rushed to her side. “Ivy!” Al exclaimed. He watched as Ivy lost her balance and started to fall. He grabbed her before she hit the ground and watched as her eyes fluttered. He looked at Yara, “What did you do?” He growled. Ivy lifted a hand to his face. “I’m ok.” She looked at Yara who looked like she was about to cry, her head hung low. “I’ve missed you too, my friend.” Yara’s head whipped up. Her eyes were bright and teary. “You remember?” Yara asked cautiously. “Only bits and pieces and only fragments. What is going on here? What happened? Why can I only remember some and not everything? Oh, Al, you can let me up.” Al was beyond confused at this point and thought someone had better start talking. He was here in this place, he didn’t even know what to call it, and with his newly found mate, just after showing everyone the amulets the Moon Goddess left for them… that’s it! The amulets must have transported them to the Moon Goddess’ kingdom! Al gave a chuckle. He helped Ivy stand but kept his eye on her. He watched as Ivy stood and walked towards Yara again, then looked at the pedestal. With her hand still in Yara’s, she reached out for Al. “I need to see. I want you with me, please.” He took her hand. “Anything for you.” Together they walked up to the book. The book seemed to hum, and you could feel the power coming off it. The power around the book felt like electricity, zapping at every second. As they walked closer to the book, the humming got louder and by the time they reached the top step, it sounded like a hive of bees going around them. Ivy took a deep breath, and she let go of Yara’s hand and reached for the book. As Ivy reached for the cover, the anticipation was washing over Al and the excitement hung in the air, they were brought back to Ivy’s living room floor. Ivy and Al blinked a few times and looked around the room. Ivy’s living room had been taken over by more wolves and witches Al had ever seen. The pure look of panic on everyone in the room had Al swerving his head to make sure Ivy was alright.
