“I apologize everyone. Let us sit and I will tell you what I have seen.” She smiled at Ivy and Al again, then walked to sit on the couch. As everyone sat, the room was completely silent, Eddie began, “ What I saw, I will forever be grateful. I am grateful the Moon Goddess let me see and I am forever in her debt for being a part of raising you, Ivy. There are to be battles that you must face, both of you and alone. We will help where we can and I will also instruct all of you on how to help and what will not interfere with the Moon Goddess. She has blessed these two and even if she did not, Destiny did. The Fates have brought you together and, in this lifetime, for the power of peace throughout our lands. You are the missing pieces designed to begin everyone together again. That is the prophecy. As to where you went, you went… the best way I can describe it is, you went home. Yara was your guide when you went. She is one of your most trusted advisors, Ivy. I know this is a lot. I have complete faith in you.” Everyone was stunned and in silence, then the whole room erupted. “…ruler?” “…prophecy..” “…now a minute..” Al sat in silence as everyone was yelling and asking questions. He looked at Ivy who looked white as a sheet. He squeezed her hand and she looked at him. “Want to get out of here?” He whispered to her as he leaned in. She nodded. He looked over to Liam and caught his eye. He opened the link between them. I’ve got get her out of here man. This is too much and too crazy. I know what you mean, your majesty. Liam joked with Al. He nodded and tilted his head towards the kitchen. When you were on your little adventure, we had to scope out the entire place. Her bedroom is the safest and heavily guarded with spells. I can handle them down here, slip through the kitchen and up the stairs in the back. Thanks man. I owe you. Yeah, yeah, just slip away quickly and quietly. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. Liam chuckled as Al flipped him the bird. Al turned to Ivy, “We’re going to slip away quietly, quickly to your room.” Ivy gave Al a pointed look. Al chuckled, “Not like that. Well, not yet anyway. It is safe and guarded with witchy spells or whatever. We can talk.” Ivy thought about it for a second then leaned in, “Ok, but don’t think you can get into my pants just because we’re in my bedroom. Everyone is down here.” Al snickered. They very quietly stood up and when no one noticed that they quickly slipped out the kitchen door and went up the stairs to Ivy’s room. Once the door closed, looking at each other burst out laughing. Ivy sat on the edge of her bed and let out a huge breath. Al walked in a little and looked around. He noticed it was pretty and organized. He noticed all the trophies in the casing against the wall. “Wow. You’re something else, huh?” “What do you mean?” Al tapped the glass. “Oh, those?” Ivy waved a hand. “I’ve always been really good at everything I do.” Al squinted his eyes at her. “Humble much?” He scoffed. Ivy narrowed her eyes then widened them. “Oh! No, I mean it in a literal sense. If I do something, I have this innate ability to excel in it. Truly. It’s really annoying because I want to find something, anything that I would be bad at, and I can’t.” Al couldn’t help the laugh bubbling in his throat. “So, let me get this straight, you have the ability to be really good at everything you do, yet you want to find something you’re bad at? Why?” Al couldn’t understand why someone would want to be bad at something, but I suppose he really never was good at everything he did. He looked back at the trophies and awards, the certificates, and medals, he looked and saw she was right. There was something in 1st place for everything on display. He walked over to her desk and pulled out the chair. He turned the chair around and sat, folding his arms over the back of the chair. He looked dangerous in that moment, Ivy thought to herself, like the wolf he was. His eyes flashed yellow and she could see his wolf, just for a moment. “Can I meet him?” Ivy asked in wonder. Al nodded. “Just not in here, he’s too big.” Ivy smiled. Silence hung in the air. “So this whole business is crazy right?” Ivy tried. “Yeah, and to top it off, we’re mates. Yet I don’t smell your wolf.” Al said curiously. Ivy laughed, “I don’t have a wolf.” Al stood up so fast that the chair tumbled over. Shock running through his body. She didn’t have a wolf? Ivy gasped when the chair hit the ground. Everything ok, boss? Al wasn’t surprised when Liam checked in. Yeah. Yeah. Just was surprised is all. We’re talking. Getting to know each other. 10-4 “You don’t have a wolf?” Al asked carefully. Ivy sat up straight. “You must have one. You are my mate. How can you not have a wolf?” “I don’t know. But until a few days ago, I had no idea this sort of stuff was real!” Ivy was getting close to shouting. All of this was getting to be too much. She was 16! 16! How was she supposed to handle saving the world, going to school, adding a mate into the mess was like having a boyfriend that she didn’t know, she has these powers that no one told her about and they have been lying to her this entire time about everything her whole life! Ivy’s head was beginning to spin. Everything around her was getting blurry and she was getting dizzy from all the noise. She had to get out of there. She had to get outside. She could feel everything in her starting to shut down. What could she do? How did she do this? Why? Why her? Ivy put her hands to her head. It was beginning to throb, and she couldn’t stop it. She felt hands on her hands. She dropped her hands and looked at Al. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. I just thought we could get to know one another and it surprised me that you didn’t have a wolf. It is no biggie. We were blessed to be mates, the Moon Goddess apparently knows what she is doing here, so we’ve got to trust her right?” Al rubbed her hands as he talked in a calm voice. He could see she was beginning to panic and freak out. He walked over to the window and opened it just a little. He could see the moon in the sky, felt the power wash over him and an idea stuck him. “Let’s go out. Let’s get out of here for a little while.” Ivy looked at him. He looked so daring against the window and the moon’s glow. He reached out to her. “What? Through the window?” Ivy shook her head. “Come on. Trust me.” Al coached her. Ivy stood up and walked to his outstretched hand. When she clasped it, sparks flew from their hands. With their hands humming, Al opened the window all the way and stepped out on the sill. He looked down. It wasn’t a far drop but he knew he had to be careful, otherwise it would hurt like a b***h. With one look at Ivy, he wrapped his arms around her. Her arms immediately went around his neck like they’ve always been there. Al took a second when he pulled her against him. He sniffed her neck and smelled the vanilla scent coming off her. “Soon.” He whispered. Ivy closed her eyes, feeling the heat from his breath on her neck. “Hold on tight and wrap your legs around my waist. Let your body fall into mine. This might jar you on impact, but I will take the majority of it.” Ivy nodded and jumped up to put her legs around his waist. Al groaned at the impact and Ivy squeezed her legs tighter. “Woman, you are going to kill me.” Ivy giggled. Then held her breath as they flew out the window. The ground was coming faster but Ivy remembered to keep her body loose and melted into Al, all thinking to keep him safe. No impact came. Ivy opened her eyes and saw that they were floating an inch above the ground. “How are you doing that?” Ivy whispered. Al shook his head. He couldn’t think straight. He was braced to take a major hit and there was nothing. “I’m not.” He stated. Then like a bubble being popped, they landed on the ground with a soft thud. They both looked up at her window then back at the ground before looking at each other. Not wanting to waste another second trying to figure out the unknown, Al set her down then grabbed her hand. “Can you keep up?” He challenged her. He saw her purple eyes flash for a second before they went normal again. An idea came to him in that instant. “Can you keep up is the actual question oh mighty future Alpha.” Ivy joked back. Al liked this playful side he was seeing. He turned to face the back of the fenced in yard and saw the woods. Perfect he thought. He took off running and let go of her a few paces before the fence, then cleared the 6 ft wooden fence like it was nothing. As he landed on the other side, he immediately turned, not thinking Ivy would be able to jump it. He started to back up to go back over when he saw her fly over the fence and land with a smooth and graceful end. He clapped softly. “Very impressive.” He said appreciatively before grabbing her hand again. They took off running. They weaved and bobbed in between trees and bushed, over fallen logs. They let the wind whip across their faces and felt the moon light on their skins. After many turns and hops, they slowed down as they reached the river bend. Ivy looked around. In all of her years, she had never been to this place before. It was beautiful. The river slowly moved with ripples from the fish that swam in it, from the wind blowing against the surface and the moon’s light basking in the middle of the river as if you could just reach out and touch it. The sand sparkled in the light glow and rocks shone at just the right tilt of your head. They walked to the water edge, the air warm enough to wade in the water. Ivy slipped off her sandals and stepped into the water, letting the ripples of water come up and splash her legs. Ivy felt a sense of serene, she could feel the life inside the river slowing just like the water. She could hear the owls in the night searching for their next meal, the scurry of little chipmunks as they run for safety in their homes for the night. Ivy could hear the crunching of leaves fallen as a doe walks over them looking for a quick sip of the water. Ivy watched as she came closer on the edge not so far from them. The doe walked up to the water, her ears perked for any sound, she stuck her head down to lap up some of the water and she smelled them. The doe cautiously lifted her head and looked at them. Ivy smiled at the sight and sent what she hoped where reassuring thoughts. The doe felt the glimmer of happiness, of how majestic she was, and continued to sip. Rustling in the woods made the doe’s ears perk and her head shot up, just as the doe turned her head, a giant buck leaped out from behind a tree and in front of the doe. He pawed the ground and snuffed his nose, the huge antlers on his head rough from his last encounter and he was ready for another one. Ivy gasped. Al went on high alert, his wolf ready to protect their mate. The buck could sense the wolf and wanted to protect his mate as well. The buck pawed the ground again, the white in his hide showing a crescent shape pulsed. Ivy watched it in complete fascination. She lifted her hand to Al’s shoulders, somehow, she knew the buck wasn’t going to hurt them. He was just frightened for the doe. “We are not here to hurt you. We just wanted to escape our world for a moment.” Ivy walked around Al as she talked to the buck. Her eyes were glowing, her voice smooth as velvet. The buck paused what he was doing and looked at Ivy. He tilted his head, as if he could understand what she was saying. “Goddess, you are magnificent, aren’t you? She is just as beautiful, but you are her protector. No harm will come to you from us, I swear it to you.” Before she knew it, she was standing in front of the buck looking into his eyes. “You have done well, my friend. Guarding and safekeeping. It is an honor.” Ivy had no idea why she said that, but the buck lowered his head and Ivy reached out to touch his nose. She could feel the connection with the buck like a steady wave flowing between them. Ivy ran her hand up his head to down his back until she reached his flank and as her hand ran over the crescent shape mark, images began to pop inside her brain. Images of her walking through the woods, the buck by her side, of Ivy bestowing the gift of the mark upon the buck, of charging him of protection of the woods, of the doe sleeping peacefully by his side. Ivy gasped and felt the tears running down her cheeks. The buck snorted and pawed the ground. Al came rushing to her side. As Al reached them, the buck dropped his forelegs in a bow like stance. Al stopped short. Just a few minutes ago, this beast was ready to attack and now he’s on the ground. Al looked at Ivy and she smiled. “He is one our fiercest subjects. He has been charged with protecting the forest.” Ivy told him through her tears. The doe came up and nudge Ivy’s other hand. Ivy could feel the love from the doe for her, for Al, and for the buck. Ivy giggled as she felt another line push through. Ivy went to her knees immediately and laughing she ran her hands over the doe’s back and down to her abdomen. She could feel the new lives beginning to form and how healthy and strong they would be. Ivy rested her head on the doe. “You are one tough lady. It will be uncomfortable for a little while and boy they are stubborn, but you will be an amazing mama.” Ivy whispered to the doe. The doe leaned her head back and licked Ivy’s face. Ivy laughed and saw the tears in the doe’s eyes. “It will be alright. I swear to you.” Ivy ran her hands over the doe’s belly once more as she did, a pulsing purple light spread from Ivy’s hands and over the belly. “What are you doing?” Al asked in awe. “I’m not sure but it feels like I am putting a protective bubble over the babies.” Al raised his eyebrow. “What babies?” Ivy’s hands stopped glowing and she kissed the top of the doe’s head. She turned to the buck and bowed her head. “All will be fine. I have seen to it. Congratulations, papa.” Ivy laughed as the buck reared back. Then the animals walked to the edge of the forest, with one last look behind them, they pranced behind the curtain of trees. Ivy walked to Al as they watched them leave, and rested her head on his shoulder, she sighed. Al rubbed her back and just held her close. “So, I guess you are really magic, huh?” Al questioned with a laugh. Ivy looked back up at Al. “I guess so. It’s all so weird to me. So much inside my brain and yet I can’t seem to pull one thought out of the next. The thing with the deer? I had no control over it. It was like something overtook control and did all those things. I can’t explain it. I feel like there is so much more inside waiting to break through. I feel so powerful and so useless at the same time.” Ivy finished with a sad note in her voice. “I want to try something; will you trust me?” Al asked Ivy. Ivy looked back up at him and nodded. Her eyes drifting to Al’s mouth. Al seeing where her eyes went, felt a flush through his body to his core. “Fuck.” Al couldn’t control it anymore. “This isn’t what I was going to do but I need to taste your lips. I need to feel you.” Al grabbed Ivy’s hair and pulled her against him. He lowered his head, stopping an inch from her mouth, waiting for permission to continue. No matter how much he needed her, she needed to say yes. Ivy lifted her head up and met his lips with hers. At contact, Al’s mind went crazy. His wolf was howling inside. MATE! Ivy’s hands roamed up and down Al’s back and up to his shoulders, down his arms. Al kept a hand in Ivy’s hair, tugging ever so often to change the angle of the kiss, Ivy opened her mouth and Al slid his tongue in. Their tongues danced together as if they just couldn’t get enough of each other. Ivy lifted her leg up Al’s side and he grabbed it, pulling her up so he was holding her. He walked them to the each of the forest where he backed her up against the tree. They separated and Ivy, with ragged breath, pulled her head to his neck, first inhaling his scent then licking along the side, stopping just above his shoulder. She licked that spot and Al shivered. Ivy nibbled the spot, just grazing her teeth against the skin; Al thought he would c*m right then, he slid his hand down to her ass and squeezed as he cupped it. Ivy lifted her head and let out a soft moan. Al pushed into her, rubbing his jeans against hers; Ivy felt the heat pool in her center. “I want you to touch me.” Ivy gasping for air, pleaded. It took everything Al had, “Not yet. We’re not ready yet. It’s the mating bond, pulling us to complete the bond.” Al had to put her down. This isn’t what he wanted to do out here, but damned if she didn’t look sexy as hell with her hair all tousled up and her lips red and raw from them kissing. With a groan and one last grasp of her bottom, Al slowly slid her down. Panting both of them, Al stepped back just an inch. “So, damn.” Al blew out a breath. Ivy bent forward to rest her hands on her knees. She had never felt that way before. Ivy let out a laugh on her next breath. “Yeah” “That was not what I was planning, just so you know. I think the mating bond is acting of its own free will, although I am not sure. I kinda skimmed that part of my training, but I guess I should have listened. Oh well, I will ask questions later. Right now, I want to try something… else” he added as he caught Ivy’s look; “I want you to stand in the clearing facing the moon.” Ivy wasn’t sure what he had planned but she figured, what the hell? Ivy walked to the little clearing of sand and faced the moon. It wasn’t quite full yet, they still had a few days to go still. She closed her eyes and felt the light shining upon her skin. She felt the power humming with the moon. She felt… “Ivy, shift…NOW!” She heard Al speak to her then she got slammed with a force. Al used an Alpha command on her and she felt something in the deep back corner of her mind. “SHIFT NOW!” Again, the force flew at her, Ivy tumbled her to knees. She cried out as the pain seared her from the inside out. She was trying to fight the pain. “Don’t fight the pain, baby. The pain will go away I promise.” Ivy was shaking her head; she was starting to sweat. “Please baby don’t fight the pain. It won’t last long.” Al was pleading with her. Ivy squeezed her eyes shut then she stopped fighting the pain and instead, welcomed it. The pain turned to something else, it was not painful at all. Ivy felt the ground under her, she felt herself get higher, then there was no more. Ivy took a breath and it sounded more high pitched than she was used to. Ivy opened her eyes. Everything was sharper and more clear. She could smell everything around her even more so than before. Ivy had the urge to shake out her body, so she did and felt her tail. Startled, Ivy looked down and saw two large white paws instead of feet, she whined. Al who was stuck in stunned silence, walked in a daze over to her. He raised his hand and rubbed her head. She was large, just about as Shadow but she was white compared to his black coat. “Go over to the river and see yourself. You’re beautiful.” Ivy walked over to the water and her reflection stared back at her. She could see her violet eyes and the rest of her was a massive white wolf, the tips of her ears were a pitch black as was the tip of her tail. Her fur looked soft and fluffy and when she opened her mouth, her canines were elongated, and she scared herself a little. She turned back to Al and plopped on the ground. She was waiting. Al smiled and undressed, stepping out of his boxers, Al moved over and gave himself over to the change. His body bent and distorted in many directions, his head grew larger, and his face twisted. It was not a pretty sight but was over quickly. In Al’s place stood Shadow. Shadow walked over to Ivy’s wolf and sat in front of her. He was letting her come to him. Ivy sprang up and walked to him, she rubbed her nose against his nose and sniffed his body. She stiffened a little when Shadow did the same to her but then he nipped at her flank and she yiped. Shadow let out what could have been a laugh. He tilted his head at Ivy then at the woods, indicating a run. Ivy took off before him and he struggled to catch her. They ran for more than an hour before making their way back to the clearing. On their way back through, Al stopped behind a tree and came back out with a box between his teeth. Al shifted first and dressed quickly. Ivy sat in the clearing staring up at the moon.
