Mary heard the door open and close. In came a barrel of Mara rushing to Ivy while keeping her eyes continuing to look around. Mara grabbed Ivy in a hug. Eddie came in a little calmer, but her body language suggested that she was on high alert.
“Thank you for coming. When I did the seeking spell, I received a bounce back against my magic. Someone was in her room, and I can’t tell who it was. Ivy smelled after shave.” Eddie’s head whipped to Ivy.
“What was the scent of the after shave?” Eddie asked hurriedly.
Ivy’s brain went blank for a moment. Eddie was looking at her, waiting for an answer. There were a couple raps on the front door.
“I’ll grab it. It is probably the Alpha now.” Jim moved to answer the door.
“Ivy, what was the scent you smelled?” Eddie asked again. Ivy could hear the sounds of people talking in the living room. She could make out the deep baritone of the men. Then the heat in the middle of her chest started.
“Mom…” Ivy whispered. Mary went to her daughter’s side. Ivy had gone a little pale and moved her hand to her chest.
“They are exactly right through this door and in the kitchen. If you would like to speak with Ivy first, then take a look around or if you want to go ahead then we will be right here.” Jim explained to a man that followed him through the house.
“If we could speak with your daughter first, just to get a feel of what is going on then we can take a look around. I brought along some members of my pack to assist.” The man had a deep voice, almost as if it demanded attention and respect. He was tall and had dark shaggy hair. They came into the kitchen and Jim looked up, ready to introduce everyone. “Mary, Eddie, and Mara you may remember…. What is it? What is wrong?” Jim rushed over to Mary and Ivy. Ivy looked like she was in a trance.
“Where is she?” Ivy heard a growl come from behind the massive man in her kitchen doorway. The man moved to the side, tilted his head towards another young man who was coming through the door and c****d an eyebrow.
Alastair could feel her in this house. The heat started in his chest and kept getting hotter the closer they got to the door. When Jim answered the door, Al could smell her. Shadow inched closer to the surface.
MATE
Al shook his head. He followed his father into the house and listened to Jim thank him for coming over. Al rubbed his chest. The heat was becoming unbearable.
“…you may remember… What is it> What’s wrong?” Al watched as Jim ran over to two women.
“Where is she?” Al growled as he pushed past his father. He could no longer take it. He had to see her. Al looked at the two women by Jim as the younger one moved her head up and looked right into his eyes.
Everyone in the room was silent and no one moved a muscle. Then Al and Ivy were walking to each other, like they were being pulled by a magnet. Ivy reached out as did Al and as their hands touched, a blast of green and purple light enveloped them. They floated a few inches off the ground and the light started to dim. Ivy’s hair was whipping around as if they were caught in a wind storm. Then ever so slowly, they floated back to the ground and the light disappeared, Ivy’s hair back to normal.
“Well, how about coffee anyone?” Mary chuckled. She let out a big breath.
“What was that? Jim’s eyes were wide, and his face was full of shock.
“That was our children meeting their mates.” Declan said coming to terms with what just happened. Declan went into the kitchen and walked over to Ivy.
