Another Place

It was dark and Ivy could see the stars in the sky twinkling against the black background. The big Oak next to Ivy shook as if in anticipation. Ivy looked around and saw a silhouette figure on the coast. The end of his coat whipped against the wind as he faced the cliffs above the water raging below. Do not be afraid young princess. No harm shall come to you here. Ivy did not feel afraid, instead she felt curious. Ivy reached over to the Oak and laid her hand on its trunk. Immediately, she felt grounded and knew she would be protected. “Where am I?” Ivy heard herself ask. The figure stayed on the coast, the only thing moving was his coat. Where is of no importance right this moment. What is important, you should know, is you are the key. What is inside of you will be tested and tried, it will be everything and nothing. You have choices to make and those who wish you harm will try to stop you. You must keep those you love close. Time will come for a battle, and you must be ready. Learn all you can. “I can’t fight. I’m just a... just a teen girl. This is all so much. I don’t know if I can do this.” Ivy felt all this weight on her and she was struggling to breathe. She looked around and could only see darkness. She heard the roaring of the water below, clapping against the walls of rock that made the cliff. Ivy felt the wind slap across her face and could feel the tears running down her cheek. It felt impossible to carry so much weight, Ivy fell to her knees. “What am I to do?” It felt hopeless to Ivy. Just yesterday morning when she got up, she was a normal teenage girl waiting for her birthday to come, ready to hang out with her friends and then take an amazing trip to a country she has always dreamt of going. Now, all she has is more confusion, questions, and she isn’t who she actually thought she was and she has to face this battle? There is only so much that a girl can take. Ivy felt her hand being squeezed. She looked at it, there was nothing there. It squeezed again and she thought, Al. Just as she was saying his name, the figure turned around to face her and she saw Al appear before her. “Hey.” Al looked down at her and gave her a smile. “Hi.” Ivy smiled back up at Al. Al squatted down to her level and looked around. “Soo… what’s going on here?” For a second, everything felt alright, and Ivy felt that click inside. “I have no idea what is going on here except I know I am safe because the tree told me so and there is this figure that I can’t quite figure out but since you got here, he has turned around so want to go check it out?” Ivy said on a breath. Al looked at Ivy with large eyes and then nodded. “Sure, let’s go see if Mr. Mysterious has any answers.” Al pulled Ivy up to a standing position, their bodies closer than he thought. For a second, he thought as he wrapped his other hand around her back running it up and down it a couple of times. He closed his eyes and inhaled her scent. He could feel Shadow in the back of his mind springing to attention. MATE! Ivy felt Al’s hand run up and down her back, each time getting lower. Ivy shivered. She felt heat start to pool in her lower region. She sucked in a break when he leaned in closer and smelled her hair. “You smell like vanilla and lavender.” He whispered. Ivy shivered again, their clasped hands in between them. Ivy could feel his heartbeat racing like hers was. His lips were close to her throat and as he spoke, she tilted her head to give him more access. Al’s eyes flashed yellow, a small growl in his throat. He could see the throbbing in her veins as he eyed her throat. That one soft spot where he would mark her, make her his forever. Al stuck out the tip of his tongue and licked a small spot. Ivy moaned. It took everything Al had to not give in. “When I touch you for the first time, it won’t be here. I want to savor every moment I have with you.” Al pulled himself back with such strength, he was sweating by the time he put enough distance between them. Ivy’s eyes were closed, and she swayed. He put his arm out and grabbed her to steady her. “Ivy.” Ivy’s eyes flickered open. “Umm. I uh, I don’t know what happened there. I am so sorry.” Ivy was embarrassed. She had never felt like that before. She didn’t know where that was coming from. Ivy looked around and saw the figure was a little closer now. “Al” Ivy said shakily and pointed. “Ivy, there is something in the air here which makes it a little difficult to breath. Maybe that’s why..” He sucked in a breath when she wrapped his stomach stopping him from talking. “What was that for?” He looked at where she was pointed to. “Oh. That’s right, we were doing something. Ok, lets go.” Al and Ivy walked the short distance so they were standing in front of the figure. The figure was hooded, and you couldn’t see it’s face. The robe it wore was old and had a bronze tint, but what captured Ivy’s eye on the cloak was the broach in the middle holding the clasped sides together. It was of a moon with a woman beside a wolf. The broach was so beautiful in color and finite detail. Ivy sucked in a breath as she saw with more clarity, her face on the woman. It couldn’t be her. Ivy would have remembered something like that. “What is going on here?” Al asked in an authoritative voice. Ivy shivered at the ripple effect it had because Al threw a little Alpha power behind the statement.
