Kaida I stood by the window, watching as Kaelen walked out of my hospital room. My hands shook at my sides, anger boiling in my veins. How dare he? After everything he put me through, after divorcing me without a second thought, he still had the nerve to fight for custody of our unborn twins? He acted as if he had any right to them after abandoning me when I needed him the most. The moment he disappeared down the hallway, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding. I turned away from the window, pacing the small room to try and calm myself down. My heart pounded in my chest, the weight of the situation pressing down on me. He didn’t understand—he never did.
