Alara Lucas’s eyes were dark, serious, as he motioned for me to get into the car. For a second, I hesitated, my hand gripping the cold metal of the car door. I could feel the tension radiating off him, and I wasn’t sure I was ready for whatever conversation was about to unfold. But there was no escaping this, not anymore.
