Chapter 9

I visited the other 2 members of Rory's collection. They were sweet, and offered to meet in a few days so they could relax and enjoy the break I bestowed on them. I was heading to my room when Seth stopped me in the hallway. "Rory wants to see you." He said neutrally. I followed him, we were silent the whole way there. He left me once we reached the double doors and I pushed them away softly before entering. Rory was sitting on the bed, his gaze still while his hands fidgeting with his rings. "Close the door." He said softly and I complied. "Did you enjoy breakfast?" He asked, turning his gaze to me. He looked tired... very tried. "I did." I said slowly, examining his yellow eyes. He only nodded before standing up and making his way to the couch I slept on. I was keeping his distance.. I found comfort in that. "You're not sleeping in here anymore?" He asked. "I can arrange a different room to be prepared. And... you may take off the collar too." He said pointedly. My brain was fuzzing. Was this real? "Why now?" I said softly, his gaze snapped to me like he may have said the wrong thing. "Why now?" I repeated. "I told you I was going to be better to you." He mumbled, kicking the couch leg lightly. He did say that didn't he... "does that mean you're not, using me anymore?" I said and he flinched. Hard. "Yes, I will not drink off you or your friends again." He sighed, the kicking motion stopped. I found joy in that statement. "Good... good." Was all I could muster. "So what did you need me for?" "To take your things since you won't be staying in here." He said waving his hands to my stuff that was neatly stored. Seeing him like that broke my heart a bit. "Who said I was leaving?" I muttered. I was surprised I even said that, he was too, his eyes wide and his mouth almost gaping. "You want to stay...?" He said, advancing towards me before thinking better of it. I nodded. "You'll make sure the others won't try and drink from me." I said nonchalantly. He face palmed. "Oh yeah, of course. Didn't think of that." He groaned before calling to his servants, they weren't women, surprisingly. "Yes, my lord?" They both said bowing. "Grab a pull out bed for me, this couch is too small." He commanded and they left silently. I gaped. He's doing all this to make me comfortable. He started taking off a blanket from his bed as well as a pillow and putting it neatly with my stuff. "Do you humans require anything else?" He said softly. I shook my head as I watched the servants return with a white couch an the old one being dragged out. Rory leaned over and pulled the couch apart, becoming a bed. "There we go." He muttered before putting the blanket and pillow on the bed, making it nearly. "How's that?" He asked. I was stunned. I couldn't even speak. My silence worried him as looked worriedly at me. "It's good, great actually." I smiled, a genuine smile which flustered him. "Right... I need to go check around and see if things are in order. Make yourself comfortable." He stammered before poofing away. I looked at the bed he made. A smile creeping on my face. • • Rory • • I appeared in the study room, leaning against the wall for support as my heart thudded wildly in my chest. Breathe.... The hell is wrong with you. It's just a mortal girl. Only... she wasn't just a mortal girl to him. He knew that now as his heart raced at her name, at her smile, at her voice. "Fuck.... I think I love her." Rory rasped as Clarissa walked in looking puzzled. She only froze once the words left my mouth. "What was the my lord? I didn't quite hear you." She teased, setting down the tea she was carrying. I groaned at her before sitting down. "I love a mortal." I sighed. Clarissa took a chair next to me, her elbows propped up. "I can sense that." She said sympathetically. My heart roared in my ears. "That isn't right." I stammered looking at her for answers. "Shouldn't I pick a vampire as a lover not, not her!" I was so confused, why... why did I feel this way? I felt a tug to her. A pull, a bond. I was starting to feel sick. Clarissa studied me before she said softly, "She's you're other half." My blood turned to ice. It was rare for a vampire to have a human mate... and when they did, it was difficult to decided if they should turn them into a vampire or not, as it's very unlikely a vampire will have another mate after that mortal dies. Clarissa patted my hand sympathetically. "Take time to think it over. Tell her when you're ready... but you know what must be done." She said, her eyes never leaving mine. I nodded.. this was hard. The others won't know she's my mate unless I mark her with my scent. I could feel the bond forming. If I stayed around her too long... the will to mark her would only become more and more compulsive. Not to think about the thought of other males around her.... I tried to push the thought out of my head. She'll be fine, I have time. I reminded my self. I have a grateful look to Clarissa before continuing to check on everything around the mansion. Luna consumed my thoughts the entire time as I made sure everything was in order. I was growing tired from the lack of blood I've been putting off. I was hungry but I promised to be better... not to prey on another human was that option. Maybe I could live off animal blood... did vampires do that? I sighed as I made my way back to my room. Luna wasn't there. But there was someone who was laying in my bed now. My anger rose at her boldness... Amanda laid nude in my bed, a purr rumbling from her throat.
