Chapter 5: The Encounter

1483 Words
Maria was at her house that morning. Pedro's strange act of kindness that night kept her from falling asleep. More than that, it was keeping her from acting rationally. Every time she saw him, she would get uncomfortable, making her attempt at recruiting him very difficult. She didn't know how to approach him at that point and with these strange feelings trying to surface, she was getting more confused by the minute. Her contemplation was interrupted when her phone suddenly rang. She turned it on and saw it was none other than her colleague at the Exorcist Organization. She was told to meet with them at a given specific time. She got up, put on her uniform, and left just then. Pedro was having similar problems of his own. That night when he treated Maria always popped up in his mind. "Why did I do that?" He asked himself. His phone suddenly rang. He picked it up and held it near his ear. "Hello? Who's this?" "It's me, Kim. I had located one of them just right on time. Get ready, they're slippy as heck, so you better make every second count. I'm sending the coordinates right now." Pedro saw the message and quickly used teleportation magic to the designated location. A lone figure in a black robe was walking down the hallway of the four-story building. The figure held out its right palm and a blue sphere with weird patterns came out. "Evig em eno trap fo nomed gnik!" The pattern stayed in the air and it seems to be waiting. A moment later, Pedro came out from behind and quickly aimed his right kick at the head of the figure but it quickly noticed him and dodged. It backed up, putting a little distance between them. "Summoning a ritual at this hour. You must be one of them." The figure clapped its hands together and five magical circles came out. Each circle let out a huge stream of electricity directly at Pedro. Pedro formed a magical shield that took the brunt of electricity. He sends it to the attacker, but it quickly dodges. Before the attacker could fire more spells, Pedro was already in front of it and delivered a nasty kick to the face, making its hood blow away, showing the figure's true face. "At least I know you're a woman now," Pedro said. The said woman narrowed her eyes at that. She clapped her hands together again and inhaled a huge amount of air before firing out a huge thunderbolt at her mouth. "A thunder roar? Impressive," Pedro thought. He quickly got out of the way to avoid the blast. A huge explosion can be seen from outside the building. The woman let out a grin and went back to the magical circle she summoned and saw that it was now complete. She brought up her hand, a horn then came out, landing perfectly on her palm. "So that's what it's for." Pedro's voice from behind startled her, but before she could strike at him, she was already on the ground. Both hands were held tight in her back, her face on the ground. "Dleh," Pedro chanted. A golden ribbon materialized out of nowhere and wrapped around her arms and legs. Picking up the horn, he inspected it. "A demonic horn. But it's not from him," Pedro rolled the woman over, making her face him. "Talk," Pedro demanded. The woman only glared at him. "Trust me, woman, you do not want to try my patience." Letting out his killing intent directly at her. The woman paled at that. "Now, are you one of them?" Pedro asked. The woman hesitated but his scary aura made her quiver. " N-no," She replied. "Who are they and where can I find?" Pedro asked again. "They're called the s-seven sacraments." "Seven Sacraments? Seven of them then. Now, where are they?" "I-I don't know, I'm just-" She didn't finish her sentence as she was disintegrated on the spot. Pedro took a step back in surprise. "That is quite enough." Pedro turned around and saw a single figure that seemed to be a man. Like the woman before, he wore a black robe, but there was an X insignia on his left chest. His face made him look like at least a twenty-year-old man. Pedro dashed at him and tried to deliver a punch but the stranger dodged and got a few distances away. "That robe. Are you one of them?" Pedro asked. The man let out a grin. "Why yes I am. Call me Ceasar, the sixth sacrament," Ceasar says with a mocking bow. "And you, my friend, are meddling in things which you don't belong to. Not to mention, you made me kill one of our followers," Ceasar. "I don't see any remorse from what I see," Pedro said as he put his arms in his pockets. "I know you're after the Demon King's resurrection," Pedro started. "I wanna know why." "Quite demanding for an outsider," Ceasar says. "What makes you even think I'd tell you anyway if I could just kill you right now?" Ceasar suddenly vanished and delivered a kick at his back. Pedro let out a grunt as he was sent barreling through multiple cars at the parking station. A few people saw him and ran away in panic. "Ouch. Wow, that kick really got me." A fire beam was launched straight at him. "Deilhs," Pedro chanted. A giant golden shield materialized in front of him, protecting him from the fire beam. "Quite an advanced spell. You are quite special there, friend. This might be fun," Ceasar said with a manic grin before he vanished again. Pedro was able to block the punch that was directed at his side before he delivered a punch of his own. Ceasar was hit in the chest, making him soar through the air. Pedro quickly got right in front of him and kicked him in the stomach. Ceasar crashed down to the ground but was seemingly fine. "Let's see you dodge this, wannabe exorcist," Ceasar formed a barrier around him and began to chant. "Erif no noddegamra!" The ground slowly turned into lava before it fired an unlimited amount of fire bullets directly at Pedro. Pedro moved at an astounding speed to avoid so many fire projectiles. As he continued to dodge, he clasp his hands together and started to chant "Eci kcolb." The surrounding area began to grow cold. A small amount of snow materialized in front of them. Ceasar saw his breath become visible in the air. "What is this?" He was suddenly covered in ice. All his limbs except for his head were covered in highly dense ice. "I-I can't move. Why is it so hard?! Such a high level of magic control of ice. What is he?!" Ceasar thought. Pedro slowly went up to him. He brought his hands together and slowly clapped. "You are strong. I'll give you that Ceasar. Such a high mastery of fire magic. Must be quite a feeling must be to be able to do all that. However, you met me." When they were three feet away from each other, Pedro took up the horn and held it between them. "Now, tell me the why," Pedro demanded. Ceasar was sweating despite the cold. He had never been more afraid than his entire life. "Dang it, I can't breathe. I have to calm down. If the boss found out that I failed..." "Hey, I asked you a question. Either you tell me what you know or-" Pedro sensed multiple signatures quickly closing in. "What the- there so many. It must be the Exorcist Organization. I have to hurry now, or I'll get spotted," Pedro thought. He focused on Ceasar again but was shocked that he was no longer there. "Such a disgrace. To think you lost this one." Pedro turned his head to the left and saw Ceasar with another one in a similar robe. This one seems to be a woman in her early teens. "Shut it, midget. I don't need your help. I had him." The woman has short hair with her bangs covering her left eye. Her robes is the same as Ceasar's except she had a hoodie and was opened to show her face. "The name is Olivia." She held out her right, showing a horn on her palm. "I will be taking this." Pedro noticed the horn. "H-how?" Pedro was flabbergasted. Olivia only sighed. "For such a renowned myth. You sure disappoint me." Pedro said nothing. Olivia formed a hand sign. "Tropelet." After the chant, a small portal enveloped her and Ceasar before they all vanished. Pedro remained on the spot. "To think I'll meet another one," Pedro muttered. "I better get out of here." "Halt! Stay right there."
